18/02/2017 – Something borrowed, something blue…

February 18, 201731

Hi all. Suzie P here with my blogging debut. That’s day-boooo to the Aussies and day-bewww to us Saffas (for the sake of trying to make a good first impression, I’ll say that you’re right and we’re wrong)(*cough cough.. yeah whatever suckers.. cough*)

As usual, it’s always a bit tough getting out of bed early on a Saturday morning. This sight makes things just that tiny bit easier though:

Having never blogged a day in my life, I’ve decided to borrow (ok.. steal) a few of the other blogger’s ideas, until I find my own winning formula.

It would seem, according to Blog-master Roger Harvey, that a good blog needs a good cartoon. So here’s my finest attempt.(that’s a thermometer in John Bond’s hand in case you were wondering)

Ok, so I know what you’re thinking (besides “Wow, she’s so talented!”) You’re thinking that according to this pic, everyone at the swim looks so similar! Well, it has been said that people who swim together start looking the same eventually. I have about 3 people a week ask me whether I’m related to Wilf, because of the striking resemblance. True story

Second, looking at the other bloggers’ works, it appears that a quality blog needs quality fish photos. But seriously… Do I even bother after seeing these ridiculously good pics that Lainey took this week?

Amazing, right?? I’ll tell you something else amazing… While we’re chasing after that elusive turtle, hunting for dolphins and hoping to share our swim with whales, what we really should be excited to see is the puffer fish, who make ornate circles at the bottom of the ocean to attract mates. Here is the educational bit for the day:

“Males laboriously flap their fins as they swim along the seafloor, resulting in disrupted sediment and amazing circular patterns. Although the fish are only about 12 centimetres long, the formations they make measure about 2 meters in diameter”

Now THAT’S impressive. Hopefully it’s given some of the B&B guys a few ideas too. Chicks dig under-water sand sculptures.

Another blogger, Andrew “Magic-Hands” Maher, usually has a deeply meaningful and thought-provoking blog. So I’ll leave you to ponder this:

“All men are equal before fish” (true dat)

And,

“Everything happens for a reason. But sometimes the reason is that you’re stupid and make bad decisions”

Ian McKnight (aka Shelly Beach) wins over his readers with a picture of a buxom blonde. If it works for him (her), it might work for me, so here goes:

Spoilt sports! Sorry guys.

Another blogger, Peter Anthony’s, posts seem to be particularly bursting with feel good moments. Here is today’s “warm and fuzzy”:

Whoever the blogger is, there is always one true ingredient for success.. and that is loads of pictures of smiling swimmers, happy that they crawled out of bed for their consultation with Dr Salt.

Congrats to Roz who completed her first 6km swim today!! Amazing!

Who knew that taking loads of photos of happy swimmers would also take loads of time to resize and upload. But if I’ve learnt anything from fellow blogger Gino, it’s that good things come to those who wait…

I asked John Bond and friend to give me a “B” & “B” but they found it a bit of a challenge. Which makes me wonder if we shouldn’t perhaps change our name to something a bit easier to act out. “YMCA” maybe? “You Must Come Aqua-cise”. Yes?

The guy on the left was supposed to give me a “Y”. Good help is SOOO hard to find these days. You get the gist though…

*** BREAKING NEWS: We’ve found Wally ***

    Love it all Suzie.
Your life-like drawings are especially good. I recognise myself with the coffee in hand and your photo-realism of everyone’s darling Anna Alvsdotter in her usual downside up pose was inspired 🙂

Haha.. you know you’re a character Bill when you’re hardly ever at the swim, and pretty much never in the water, and STILL manage to make the blog 😉

Sensational blog Suzie. Bad mistake being so good on your first blog. Popular demand will insist upon you becoming a regular blogger and so much to live up to. I didn’t realise that Roger was so good at identifying blogger talent.
