Friday 17 February 2017 Swim to overcome peeves

February 17, 20173

This week I felt peeved because on several occasions I encountered writers saying “disinterested” when they clearly meant “uninterested” – what to do?? Have a swim. After a few moments in the water, I will be free of peeves.

Here are my fellow swimmers who will have the same benefit

Lachlan and Nick

Richard gets intro from Inge. Good start!

Trina and my daughter Ruby who came to swim with me because she turned 18 today!!!

Ian gave us good guidance – the treacherous water at the beach was just for experts. the rest of us went to halfway

People listened closely

Usually at Shelly – now father and son on land, Guy and Tom

Ross

Rob did not get the memo on the striped t shirt

Arthur and Bruno

Encounters with early swimemrs

Entry at Half way

Karen Stephanie and Jess

Almost at Shelly

Waves at half way

NEXT WEEK – ARTWORK FROM ONE OF OUR MULTITALENTED SWIMMERS – CAN’T WAIT

Stats

260 swimmers

8 newbies

23.1 degrees

The beach was closed for dangerous (“treacherous”) conditions

Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.  Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Lovely blog Elizabeth. Your Ruby is a gem.
Agree with you re laxity of word use. We have the best words, tremendous words, in the words of a President of some reknown. Let’s use them correctly.

    Great Blog Elizabeth.
I popped down from up the coast but the sea was angry my friend, like an old man sending back soup in a Deli.
Discretion is the better part of valour, OR he who fights and runs away lives to fight another day, OR fortune favours the brave, OR look before you leap, OR I chickened out.

Lovely blog Elizabeth and a very happy birthday to your Ruby! It was a great swim from half way today. I was very happy to avoid the surf this morning. Thanks John Bond for your assistance getting in and out at Fairy Bower
