08/09/2011 – Iain Is Back :-)

08/09/201118

50 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

The conditions have settled down nicely now, with calm clear water and no stingy things – a lovely welcome home swim for our hero Iain Channel McGregor.

As you can see from Stephen’s photos we were all very happy and proud to have Iain back in the water with us. He is talking of a Robben Island swim in South Africa next…

Uhmm…. ‘great’ bum shot too, thanks for that Stephen ! Anyone up for a run ?

The last photo shows the lifeguards accompanied by Hazel’s friends and family; some swimmers, some spectators, beautifully laying Hazel to rest this morning in her favourite place – with Dr Salt off Manly beach, just as the sun broke through the clouds, it was perfect, just as Hazel would have liked, RIP Hazel.

Jenny Knapman paints for the Workshop Arts Centre, Ewart Gallery and they are celebrating their 50th Anniversary with a Market Day on Saturday 17th Sept, from 9am – 3pm. Give them a visit at 33 Laurel St, Willoughby, to enjoy the great atmosphere with live jazz and delicious food and pick up an affordable, original piece of art, maybe even one of Jenny’s 🙂

Happy birthday to Peta Saunders today 🙂

Water Temperature 17.2 degrees.

Air Temperature 14 degrees.
Sunrise 6.05am.
Sunset 5.41pm.
Low Tide: 11.01am.
High Tide: 5.35pm.

The return of The King! Welcome back Iain.
Great swim this morning with nice clear water and a good sized Port Jackson close to Shelly as we all took off back to Manly.

Ah 17.2’C – thanks Jules – but I do think we need a 3rd thermometer, Nick?

Who’d have thought Iain swimming the English Cahnnel would give me such a Hangover.. !!
The Thermometers in the chemists only take the temp from 32 -39C , whats up with that? Will keep looking!!

I am still traumatized by all those bluebottles on Tuesday. I didnt like the monster one that wrapped around my arm and the thought of it has had me hiding under the bedcovers. Please tell me it’s safe to get out of bed now. THNX.

It was 13 degrees in January when I was in Capetown, so Michael are you doing it sans wetsuit?

Nick you wooz. Iain turned up for this morning’s swim. Where were YOU? (You could’ve brought the brewery to the swim – just like Iain did 🙂 …)
Hazel RIP, what a grand farewell to a great person. I bet you enjoyed the board ride with life guards Cam and Lee, your last ever appointment with Dr Salt. xxxx (ps Libby slapped my bare bottom in your honour. Guys, don’t ask)

I don’t know where 17.2c came from! You’re all getting as bad as Balmoralites. The actual temperature was 18.0c as measured by the International Standards Laboratory Thermometer [ISTLT] administered by the chief temperature measurer.

    Thanks Everyone,
Great to be back and swimming albeit with a funny head which I’m sure was jet lag related and nothing to do with the most enjoyable drinks last night.
Brilliant conditions and just great to see everyone and looking forward to catching up more so on the weekend.
Was also a lovely tribute to Hazel with the sun coming out just as her ashes were returned to Neptune this morning. Rest In Peace you lovely mermaid.

Hi, when I went to sign in this morning, my name was already ticked off. So, if you swam this morning and your name begins with an ‘R’ you might want to check you were ticked off. And, where were you when I needed the winter swim ticks!!!
    cheers
    Rob

I was thinking Hazel would definitely have given me a smack on Tuesday. Rest in peace, Hazel.
