93 thoroughly spoilt Bold & Beautiful swimmers
The water was as clear as clear can be, with the sun floodlighting the underwater world as it reflected off every grain of sand, completing what was already total perfection this morning.

The water is sooooo calm and still, you get more ripples in the bath.

What were the tiny shiny little gritty things in the water near Sheley Beach? No bites from them but I do wonder whatthey were

They were juvenile Salps which had recently broken off from the main colony, a long chain of tiny bodies. Once free, they grow up to as long as your thumb. I have seen thousands of the adults washed up on the shores of North Harbour. Here is a link to a video: http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/animals/invertebrates-animals/other-invertebrates/sea_salps/
There’s lots more links on the Internet, just google Salps.
