18.2 degrees, low tide, clear day, gentle ocean.
Another beautiful sunrise with the reds reflected on the shoreline. Going in, the water was a bit swirly near the ramp and some swell was coming in across the point, but not enough to really notice. The sand has those lovely deep trenches, showing the water movements and visibility was good across the bay. Clumps of ‘tinsel’ seaweed, and some huge schools of fish in the middle, salmon?
At Shelly, it wasn’t a cold wait, the call went out for the first timer from Germany, and I’d met a swimmer who’d travelled from Bathurst for a first time in a long time swim.
Coming back I followed the reef, seeing a cuttlefish, wobbegong and large schools of yellowtail, and angel style fish.
A nice steady swim around the point and a cruise in with the swell – the sun made a nice shadow so you could anticipate the wave, so I had a nice wave catch all the way into the beach. Really lovely swim, not a lot of current, so nice and easy.
