101 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
What a magnificent swim this morning ! Great weather with clear blue skies, stunning water and an amazing turnout of swimmers, clearly a fabulous new winter record :-).
It was a great atmosphere at the point as everyone enjoyed the winter spectacle of all the pink caps bobbing around. Vicki Harbutt made the comment at Shelly Beach that the pink caps were breeding – cute 🙂
Welcome to all our new swimmers this morning, some of
whom travelled all the way from Bondi, great to have you guys join us and hope to see you again soon.
5 dusky whaler sharks, 2 blue groupers, a green grouper and some jelly blubbers were amongst the mix.
Richard Lees was enjoying watching two dusky whalers swimming underneath him when suddenly they collided, clearly giving each other a fright, they both rapidly swam off in different directions !
Hopefully it will be beautiful conditions just like today for our solstice swim on Tuesday morning, when we will be swimming right at sunrise, 7am 🙂 Assuming James Goins can swop his shift at work so that he can swim (love the dedication James) he is going to bake a beautiful sweet pecan pie, and Anna Alvsdotter and Annette Willows have also kindly been volunteered into baking something yummy, so it would be
lovely if a couple of swimmers could also make something small to share after our swim so we can celebrate the rebirth of the sun together as they did in ancient cultures around the globe 🙂
Anna Alvsdotter is very keen for us all to link hands in a big circle at the point on the way out on Tuesday morning, to the chorus of “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are blue, you never know dear how much I love you,
so please don’t take my sunshine away”, it should be a great morning 🙂
Wonderful photos courtesy of James Goins, thank you James !
Oh yes, that reminds me… James asked where Rowan Webb was this morning, good point Rowan, where are you, is the water to cold for you… ?
There are a few friendly faces noticeable by their absence, the water really is beautiful though so hope to see you all soon, you
don’t want to miss out on the prestigious winter badge now do you…
Happy birthday to Aelwyn Norton today !
Water Temperature 18.3 degrees.

Ahhahaha! …and Anna Alvsdotter has also kindly been volunteered into baking…. Phhht. Jules darling, you don’t ‘get volunteered into’ things, you ‘get coerced/tricked/lured into’ baking something yummy for the Winter Solstice swim.
Will do if I have the time hon, but I can absolutely volunteer for the holding hands in a sun-worshipping, pagan happy circle and singing 🙂

Oh Anna, of course you can ‘get volunteered into’ doing things, it happens all the time… it’s your lack of understanding of the English language, it gets you into trouble all the time… 🙂 xx
Looking forward to Tuesday’s festivities it will be lots of fun.

Conditions were more the way we like it compared to Wed&Thur. Great turnout today and good to see some people know Manly is a better place to swim than Bondi. Great pics James especially of dog on surfwatch and the Cheeky wetsuit.

Peter Wood has kindly volunteered (all of his own accord Anna ;-)) to make Baklava for our solstice festivities on Tuesday morning! Yum, thanks Peter 🙂

Peter Wood is a star, volunteering to make a Baklava. I’ll volunteer to wear a Balaklava if that’s of any help?
PS. Who’s the pretty bottom?
