17/06/2011 – Excitement…

June 17, 201117

44 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

Magical sunrise as we swam out through the reasonable surf this morning 🙂

Nice swim across to Shelly Beach and back. It was quite an eventful swim though…

Peter Wood was very excited he saw something on the swim today; a rock !

Elaine Kindred stopped everyone in their strokes when she swam into a piece of seaweed and squealed… 😉 and John Masters was enjoying a great wave as he was body surfing back to the beach until he ran into a log, also known as Peter Wood 🙂

Then to finish off we sent out a search party for Michael Christie as David Brocherie asked if Michael had got back in ok as they were out in the break together. Of course he did he’s in the swower was the assumption until Bruce Baird came out confirming Michael wasnt in there… So Vicki, David, Bruce, Robert and myself all set off in search for Michael when he happily appeared with Stephen and Lesley Coulter walking along the path, they had turned back and swam into half way, what can I say, some of us were sensible and swam into half way to start with 🙂

Water Temperature 19.3 degrees.
Air Temperature 12 degrees.
Sunrise 6.59am.
Sunset 4.53pm.
High Tide: 9.22am.
Low Tide: 2.54pm.

Ive been finding my inner self with lots of yoga. Thus no swimming. I will be back tomorrow. I feel a bit dusty after last nights session in the 4 Pines so that explains my absence today. I wont bother telling you about the ear ache and sore knee as i know from previous experience that i get no sympathy.
According to Stephen we have been M.I.W missing in winter.
    see you tomorrow

Went for an 11am swim (much more reasonable than 7am after 11pm at 4pines)
    One word:
    Glorious!!!!

I avoided the weigh in but do remember (somewhat hazily) an extra foot on the scales!
I’m sure I must of imagined it however as ‘the nicest man in the world’ would never do anything like that.

Thanks guys for all your attention at Half Way Beach on Wed. I’m sure you’ll be pleased to know that my Physio has put both my dislocated shoulders back in place, and my twisted elbows are healing nicely.

hi, nothing to do with the thread, but for anyone interested in accomodation for the Magnetic Island swim, a real estate agent I know has suggested the following places:
Brooke Haven Holiday Units are in Hordern Avenue. There are 2 x 2 bedroom units available which would be most convenient to Kilshanny (where Jules, Michael and I are staying). There is a short walking track from the units which comes out at the Bowling Club, only a few doors down from Kilshanny. Each unit has a queen bed in the main bedroom and queen + 2 single in the 2nd bedroom, sleeping 6. They are renovated with new bathrooms, kitchen and courtyards. The units are $300 for 2 nights or $420 for 3 nights.Brooke Haven Link to website: http://www.compassproperty.com.au/display.html?id=486
I also have Woodville Apartments also have availability that weekend. They are new townhouses at 9 Marine Parade, Arcadia and are three bedroom, sleeping up to 7 with 2 queens, and single or tribunks in the 3rd bedroom. They are $530 for 2 nights or $630 for three nights.

I have to confess Michael and Stephen swam back to half way for me I think – I lost all my confidence to go in through the surf – Well I am pretty sure they came back for me?? And I am pretty sure they would have gone in the through the surf otherwise? That’s the story we are sticking to… Thanks guys. 🙂
