08/08/2011 – Happy Ending ;-)

August 8, 20119

37 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

Another stunning swim this morning with beautiful weather and flat calm water, being fussy and very demanding we just need clearer water now please.

As we finished our swim this morning there was a large pod of dolphins all leaping high out of the water, they were seriously frisky and made for a very happy ending to what was already a beautiful swim. The third photo shows you some of our swimmers looking back out to the dolphins after the swim, I’m sure you can see a dolphin in the photo too…
Iain McGregor swam back out to play with them 😉

Check out our big brave Luitz Koopman admiring his Jimble sting at brekkie this morning.

Iain McGregor leaves for his English Channel Swim this Saturday, so Saturday morning will be his final B&B swim before his departure, quite literally, he will be jumping straight out of the swim into his parents car to head straight to the airport. It would be lovely if we could have a big turnout as ‘good luck send off’ swim for Iain on Saturday morning to wish him a successful and smooth crossing ! So how about we all put pink zinc on ourselves to mark the occassion 🙂

Thank you so very much from all the Dardanelles swimmers and our English Channel Swimmer to Amy and Maureen Rath, Annette Willows, James and Nicolee Goins for their very beautiful and kind thoughtful gift to each of us: a lovely handmade B&B keyring along with some homemade ANZAC cookies with a homemade B&B gift tag. You guys are so thoughtful and special – thank you so much from all of us xox

Today’s last photo is a group photo of most of the ‘Dirty Dardanelles Dozen’ in their on tour jackets with their lovely gift.

It was noted that most of the girls who were out yesterday arvo were missing in action for their swim this morning though…

Water Temperature 17.8 degrees.
Air Temperature 10 degrees.
Sunrise 6.42am.
Sunset 5.20pm.
Low Tide: 9.00am.
High Tide: 3.45pm

Fascinating story that Nick posted about rotting seaweed giving off fatal amounts of hydrogen sulphide. Did anyone see that great doco on the (CSIRO scientist) Dr. Bogle/Mrs. Chandler “murder”? The filmmaker hypothesised that they were actually killed by high concentrations of H2S gas given off by rotting vegetation in the Lane Cove River, on whose banks they were lying overnight. (We won’t go into what they were doing there).

The Australian Museum Fish collection has put Gaetan’s images of the dead blindshark up on its website. Let’s hope it will alert some people to the dangers of allowing debris to get into the sea. Lost goggles could strangle a blue groper or dusky whaler!

Sure… I’ll be waiting for you at 7:00am and will only surface if I see at least 100 B&Bs swimmers in the water!
