07/08/2011 – Calibration…

August 7, 201113

58 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

A great swim with a bit of a wave and slightly blurry water. The sun broke out through the clouds just as we were swimming back to Manly which was lovely.

~13 swimmers completed a second lap in the rain.

As you can see from the photos Nick the brick Dowson decided to calibrate the thermometers this morning; apparently Boy Michel put his thermometer in his mouth last night and it recorded 36.? So Nick put Michael’s thermometer in his mouth this morning and it registered 35.6 and Michael’s thermometer is supposed to register warmer… So what do you reckon that means ?? Obviously Michael’s thermometer is faulty as we all know Nick is hot 🙂

Check out the great on tour photo of Maureen Rath from when she got snowed in at Queenstown, NZ.

Please come and join some of your fellow B&B swimmers for drinks from 4pm at the Sable Bar, above the Charlie Bar at the Manly Pacific, it will double up as a little farewell get together for the B&B Dardanelles on tour group and Iain McGregor for his English Channel Swim Crossing. We will be handing out a little surprise to all the adventurers from James and Nicolee Goins, Maureen and Amy Rath and Annette Willows 🙂

Congratulations to Simon Cowell who became a Grandad again for the second time on Friday evening to beautiful baby Max 🙂

There is a fundraising community dinner, a paella night, to support Manly Women’s Shelter at Manly Yacht Club on Sunday 21st August from 6pm. Tickets are $55. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket please contact Sarah Williams or Anna Alvsdotter on 0415 749 865.

That’s a great shot of Maureen, but why is she not in the water???

See those ducks, they’re actually frozen solid like statues.

SOOOOOOOOOOO envious of you Robin – I have always wanted to walk Hadrian’s Wall. If I’d known you were going I’d have followed you like a shot! But I was a bit suspicious of the photo – did you photoshop the sky to make it blue? That doesn’t happen very often in that part of the world! What direction are you doing it in? Please send more photos to make me even more homesick.

Thanks for putting that note in for the fundrasing dinner Jules.
It’s all for a great cause (supporting the Manly Women’s Shelter)and it will be a fun night where you can catch up with other friendly locals.

Jane we could have a Bold and Beautiful Hadrian’s Wall badge made up as well. Looking out my window at some nice horizontal rain a minute ago so another 22km for me in the elements. I am walking east to west. I started at Corbridge. I hope to get to Carlisle this afternoon then Bowness on Solway monday night. I will send some photos to Jules tonight and she may kind enough to forward them to you. Nobody usually wants to see my holiday snaps so I will make the most of it.

Great to hear from you Rob. I think our cossies and caps might be the most appropriate gear to do it in, if it’s anything like the 2 weeks’ trek (or swim?) I did in the Lake District a few years ago. Rather damp.
Really looking forward to seeing more of your pics.

Sorry I can’t be there to farewell Iain and the dardenelles swimmers. Iain you’ve done all the hard work. Im sure you’ll do it. Bring us back a pebble from that French beach

    Absolutely,
    French pebble on its way.
I also hear the French pebbles are far smoother and more sophisticated than the English pebbles which can be a little too coarse and very unrefined.

I might need to ask Nick and Gaetan to confirm that for me.
