It was another stunning morning in Manly. I managed to find a fantastic car park on Victoria Parade and I ran into all round great guy, Cam. We enjoyed a lovely early morning coffee at Hakan’s (pre 6.30am).
We then walked around to the B&B swim where we were greeted with a beautiful sunrise.
The B&B swim is comprised of a group genuinely lovely people. It’s always fantastic to be greeted by the delightful people at B&B before the swim. I couldn’t take photos of all of you but I’ve included photos of some of these lovely people in today’s blog.
JP, Sterls and Cam checked out the conditions at the point. For some reason, it looks like I photoshopped them into this photo but they were there standing in front of the fence.
Two faithful regulars, Dorset and John.
Some of the lovely ladies of the B&B are also faithful regular swimmers.
Jenny and Georgina have lost a ….. bag of bras. If you’ve accidentally taken them home please kindly return them either to Management or Jenny / Georgina.
Owen won best swimming cap this morning.
Good mates Sterls and Peter Anthony.
Roz and Lainey were at the swim bright and early. They’ve both been working very hard preparing for the Australians for Women’s Health Trivia Night to be held on 18 July 2017, please see details below. Roz was telling me about some of the prizes and they sound amazing including a luxury holiday on Magnetic Island and great accommodation in Port Macquarie to name just two examples.
Jason (on the left) and Andrew are both doing www (winter without wetsuit). I’m pretty sure this involves swimming without a wetsuit on 20 occasions spread out over seven weeks in winter.
Who said swimming isn’t a team sport. Bruce, JP, Sterls and Holly are wetsuiting it up this winter.
Swimmers entering the water at 7am, no better way to start the morning!
The regulars (John, Val, Jeff and Shaun) love a coffee after a beautiful swim.
The lovely ladies of the B&B post swim basking in the beautiful sunshine.
Gorgeous Poppy and Sybilla sold delicious hand made maple syrup and cinnamon muffins to B&B swimmers, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Bear Cottage, great work girls!!
DP and Kara (I think you will all agree with me that Kara was looking especially stunning this morning x)
The Giovanelli Brothers (Jimmy and Tim – the Bishop, Pastor at Manly Life). Jimmy recently became a dad for the first time, congratulations to Cate and Jimmy Giovanelli on the birth of your beautiful baby boy, Floyd!!!
I love Kara, Holly and Julia such beautiful, accomplished girls x
Group shot
Naomi Pearce Coates, the mother of Audrey, is looking for other young mums and dads from B&B who are interested in arranging a baby-minding group so parents can take it in turns looking after each other’s bubs ensuring no one misses out on the swim. If you’re interested please see Management or Naomi.
I just wanted to thank everyone for your kisses, hugs, text messages and kind words.
In loving memory of my dad, Michael Fraser 18 Feb 1939 – 22 Feb 2017.
Stats:
Temperature: 18.4
Newbies: 6
Total swimmers: 310
B&B Monthly Dinner at Bluewater Cafe
The next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 11th July at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. The guest speaker on the night will be B&B swimmer, Chief Superintendent Kenneth Murphy (aka Smurf), who was recently awarded an Australian Fire Service Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. Ken will give a talk titled “Business as Usual” about the dangers faced by fireman, and highlighted by fire at the Forbes Vast Solar Plant, involving 120,000 litres of liquid sodium.
The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential: To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please book HERE.
Note from Management: to clear up any confusion, the 2017 Quiz Night is not a B&B event. It is an event run outside of B&B by two B&B members, Roz Beaver and Elaine De Jager to support Dr. Rays charity. The normal B&B quiz night will be held next year in 2018.

Really lovely heartfelt blog Megs. Thank you for reminding people about the Trivia Night. Roz has been doing such a lot of work getting this going, Janet Franks has helped too. We’ve sold almost 2/3 of tickets do get in quick! What a beautiful swim, Wobbies, PJs and loads of fish!

There were maple syrup and cinnamon muffins? That’s even more exciting than wobbies and PJs.

Nice one Meg. I can completely visualise the swim even though I was on the Gold Coast.
