I find coaches and teachers amazing. One person can coach another person to do something. Bronte Campbell may be a superfast swimmer like her sister but there are coaches in her story that early on saw potential and who have coached her to this level. Those coaches cannot swim that fast but they can get her there.
I benefit from advice, coaching and teaching in lots of ways in my life.
Swimming is a fine example especially because I am working on improving something that I am not good at. It is a marvel to see coaches of work shops try different ways of explaining things for different swimmers.
Today, here is Rob who does lots of sports and enjoys the stretching and relaxation of swimming

getting ready for the swim

Newbie Natalie and Ian

Thanks to Lesley showing me how to get a photo of the lovely sunrise:

Jim and Martin – I have not been swimming for a while and it made my day to see them both. they have often advised me on negotiating waves

I conservatively estimate there were 200 6.30 swimmers today which I encountered as I rounded the point, setting off early

Matthew and Charles

Dominic was first to set foot on Shelly of the 7 am swimmers

Shelly beach. Lots of swimmers. Lots of fish and a bit of jelly fish

So good to see Alan.

Sam and friends

Chris from Hong Kong – welcome again

Jim John and Dorset

The A team prove muscle memory. They have been excellent swimmers since about birth, as I understand history recorded by Roger and here they are still swimming fast and with excellent technique today

Nice to see these great swimmers including Stephen Coulter whose fabulous photos from previous swims are still on the gallery if you care to see them

Ian

Rob – waited a bit for a photo before setting off after the Let’s go but not long

The Cairns triathlon is on in 4 weeks and here are some of the silver wetsuit team. Setting a goal and working hard toward it

Temp below
stats:
290 swimmers at 7 am
2 newbies
90-200 at 6.30 am

When I read the book Mao’s last dancer, what stayed with me was that he was spotted as a small child and taken from his family to train as a dancer because someone saw his potential and a teacher was able to teach him dancing at a level which that teacher might not be able to do. But what a gift to be able to teach and coach people like that!
See yesterday and tomorrow for bottom of the blog stuff. I have run out of time.

Another great blog Elizabeth, thanks. Good to see so many pics of different swimmers. One theme across so many of those pics: that there is a shared enjoyment to our daily swim and many a friendship is forged or deepened on the to and fro crossings of CTB.I particularly love that sunrise pic and the way the pink of the sunrise seems to have arced across the water towards our starting point. Really speaks to the promise of the day. Thanks Lesley for sharing those skills.

The coaching thing, I am still young at heart ….is it to late for the brief candle of my ability to be nurtured ?
