Dardanelles update:

We arrived at our boat this morning for our inspirational cruise on the Bosphorous, and lets just say it wasn’t quite the inspiration we
were looking for, we were greeted with giant sized jelly blubbers and a far bit of debris… Uhmm our B&B cossies were definitely going to
stay dry today.  But oh my gosh did we have fun, it was a wonderful morning out on the boat with lots of laughs.

You find out lots about your friends when your trapped on a boat together for a few hours…

– We learnt that an acupuncturist put needles in Izzy’s ears before she left Manly to keep her calm for the swim, only problem is every
time she fiddlers with them she gets excited, or was that anxious I can’t remember. – Debbie van Otter made it quite clear that NO-ONE will be taking her flippers from her.

– John wanted a photo taken with just his mate Mike – aghhh how sweet 😉

After the cruise, Mahdi, Izzy, Robyne, Michael C and myself hit the Turkish Bath which was over 300 years old and according to the
Guardian, it is one of the 1000 places you must visit before you die. It was an experience I’ll give it that… !

..i thought it was a Port Stephens? ;-P
I saw a Port Augusta swimming around at the deepest part of the swim! 😉
It’s great to see the sea bed all the way there and all the way back again after all this time – sun beaming on my back!! ..although my heart skipped a beat a few times because great visibility means see more ‘things’ – big floating seaweed things!
Dardanelles guys – did you get scrubbed and washed at the Turkish bath?? I have always wanted to get one of those!!
Gaetan – I watched the Iain Channel swim video last night and I gotta say just hearing you say ‘chocolate, milky way’ in a French accent for the commentary as Iain looked on confused
was priceless! Great video – really enjoyed it.
Iain, I was so impressed watching the video – I cannot imagine what you felt at the end?!!

    Hi All
I’m off to LA tomorrow to have some cuddles with my little grandson, and some pats for the new one on the way. Please would the thermometer gentlemen ensure that the sea has warmed up a bit for me when I get back later in September?

Hey…If anyone is up for two laps tomorrow morning, I’m going for a 6:20 start. When the water is this beautiful it’s hard not to go for 2 laps 🙂

    Hear, hear!
Best of luck to you all in the ‘race’ 🙂 Make sure you have fun. (As if you wouldn’t – ha!)
Something for you to ponder whilst you make your intercontinental splash; there are as of today nearly 130 people who have qualified for their winter badge…!! Two more winter mornings to go so the number will be even higher, but it’s already absolutely sensational that so many have swum so much with so little warmth. And for such a small badge.
Makes me think about W Churchill. I’m sure he was thinking of the future Dardenellians when he said “When you’re going through hell, keep going” 🙂
