23/04/2011 – Patchy Swim

April 23, 20116

Over 49 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

The rain must have scared off some of the swimmers, they must have been afraid of getting wet…

The water was flatter than flat, a little blurry in places and the southerly had introduced a few chilly patches. The marine life didn’t seem to mind though, they were all still out in force.

5 swimmers have continued onto Dee Why: Richard Agius, Gaetan Guilhon, Roberto Suares, Iain McGregor and Len Power. Good luck guys, we look forward to hearing the full report on the blog later today 🙂

The water is so calm at the moment, how about a night snorkel from Shelly Beach at 7pm tomorrow evening.  If you’re keen bring snorkel, mask, flippers and an underwater torch.  Meeting at the boat ramp at Shelly Beach, 7pm tomorrow evening.

Check out the awesome B&B on tour photos of Peta Saunders with some wildlife in Africa 🙂

The owner of Budgy Smuggler, Adam Linforth, who we have partnered with for our B&B swimwear, is not just anybody… Adam was in the top 50 for Cleo’s bachelor of the year !! How did you go Adam, hope you won ???

Water Temperature 21.9 degrees.
Sunrise 6.23am.
Sunset 5.24pm.
Low Tide: 6.45am.
High Tide: 12.42pm.

It was a great swim, took us 1h50min, which is quite fast (at least for me! :-)), but we had a favourable swell, that helps!
Water was warm the whole way, we saw the sun for a minute or so as we swam over the sharks net, after that it was mainly rain, but nothing too bad at all. I did not see a single fish at all!
It was a very pleasant surprise to see Maureen waiting for us at the beach, as well as Richard’s wife with our clothes. Lovely breakfast in Dee Why as well!
I greatly recommend this swim, definitely one of the best 6km swims around!

    Great Morning All,
Very keen to swim to Dee Why again soon.
If anyone is interested in a Sunrise swim at 6am to Queencliffe and back give me a text or buzz on 0400 481 259.
    Thanks again all.

ps. Michael that Indian food really does provide a special boost for swimming.

Well done, gentlemen. Sorry to have missed it. I was down the coast in Culburra, although with you in briny spirit.
Angels come to us in many forms. Maureen Rath is one of them.
