Over 142 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
20 swimmers enjoyed a lovely early Bolderdash up to Queensie and back with 4 swimmers stretching out into Freshie.
They had a new kinda companion this morning with a low flying helicopter over head. I wonder if they took any photos ?? 😉
The sunny morning and calm seas encouraged everyone out for a lovely relaxing swim including 15 new swimmers, welcome all.
A nice free seaweed exfoliation to finish… some people pay for that you know and it’s all just in a morning’s swim for us 😉
As a reminder the regular 7 0’clock, 6 and 10km swims will all be in the harbour tomorrow due to an enormous amount of ‘traffic’ on the ocean side with the Manly Carnival. So please feel free to gather straight at the harbour end of Ashburner St. Some of the guys however, will wait in the regular spot until 7am to make sure no-one gets left behind, the swim will then start as soon as they all arrive.

Izzy lost her two blue fins this morning. We were standing in the waist high water when a big wave dumped on us and washed Izzy’s fins out of her hands. They disappeared into the sandy froth. Let us know if you find them please.

Yaaayy!! I made it to South West Rocks this morning. Checked in at the cafe to leave a tip for Neil as instructed. Now I am about 50m off the front beach on my way to who knows where?

I’ve got to say that the helicopter gave me the wobbles… I was somewhere in the depths of “North Steyne Syndrome” when it flew over… once you can just pass off, but when it flies over you three or four times you begin to worry its following something in the water!!!

You can see some of the Bolderdashians on their way back from Queensie in Murray’s photos on Sprout Daily this morning 🙂

Thanks Anna for posting that. I am a bit red-faced, because i mocked Michael relentlessly for being dumped (oh yes folks, the mighty Michael was dumped – not that i would like to repeat that rumour) in 2 inches of water. Well I was dumped three times this morning in one inch of water.
anna Alvsdotter and Attracta gave me a beautiful purple leopardskin thing. Which made up for the misery of lost fins.
Julie, the wine bar rang me, they have a weeping red ball there waiting for you. They’ve given it milk and bikkies but it’s bawling (no pun) it’s eyes out for you.

I saw the helicopter pilot making that silly shark sign on the top of his head. YOu know, one hand on his head like a fin – and was worried for your safety – but then realised he was only drunk.

what is a large gang of sharks called?
certainly not a pride of sharks.
i suggest a “shityourself of sharks”

LIKE! But it only takes one shark to shityourself…
What about a media frenzy of sharks? Oh no, it only takes one shark for a media frenzy as well…

As long as there is no big schools of “bait fish” around we should be fine..(see the SMH article)…. !

…I don’t know how true this is but apparently a group of sharks is called a SHIVER!! 😀
Anna Alvsdotter
January 20, 2012 at 12:18 pm
Very appropriate Lesley, but I believe SHIVER is only a polite euphemism for the real term ‘shitload’, just like polite people say ‘darn’ instead of damn, ‘sugar’ instead of ‘poo’, and ‘friggin’ instead of #@$%&.

Anyone interested in an unofficial Bolderdash at 5.50am tomorrow as a warm up for the 10K?

You’ll have difficulty at the ocean side, as they’ll be putting IRB’s etc in and out together with a load of surfboats.
If you do an early one I would suggest in the harbour also.
