77 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
Superb swim this morning, the conditions are seriously gorgeous at the moment: calm, flat, crystal clear, warming and full of beautiful marine life with whales out the back !! Perfect 🙂
Great selection of photos from James Goins this morning too, thank you James !
13 people did an early lap, 2 of them swam to Queensie; Roberto Suares and Len Power !! 5 people did a double lap and 3 of those did all three; Chris Kiely, John Bond and Michael Christie.
It’s great that there’s so much interest in the extra swims, which I guess isn’t surprising considering the conditions. It looks like we’ll have lots of people enjoying the regular Bolderdash, (the 5.50am swim to Queensie and back which starts officially at the end of October, back in time to pick up the regular 7am swim to Shelly and back) and the summer 6 and 10km swims this season which will be fantastic 🙂
6.20am swim and a double tomorrow morning ??
Michel Le Vieux sent a message through whilst we were swimming to let us know that there were whales out the back keeping us company out there. More whales went past, with lots of happy tail slapping, as we had Brekkie too. Tomorrow maybe they’ll come for a swim… PLEASE !! 🙂
Tim’s fact of the day: “A starfish can turn its stomach inside out.”
Great on tour photos from the girls painting the town pink Claire Egbers, Linda Goodwin, Anne Wilson with her super cool finger goggles and Debbie Landgrebe.
Water Temperature 18.3 degrees.
Air Temperature 13 degrees.
Sunrise 6.20am.
Sunset 7.05pm.
High Tide: 8.32am.
Low Tide: 2.44pm.

What a superb swim that was today!! Crystal clear water, flat as a pancake, warm at probably 19c+ in the middle and SUNNY with light wind. It really doesn’t get much better.
Tomorrow is predicted to be the same. Undetectable swell in the morning, sunny, same wind as today but half the velocity, water temperature about 19c. AND whales all over the place. Lots of pods around yesterday and today!!
I will be down at 6.20 for an early swim, its too good to miss at the moment.

YOU had to bake a cake ??? I didn’t notice it at brekkie… Next one for us please !!!
If it’s gonna be like today tomorrow I don’t think I can resist an early one, so I will be there too. I guess that’s good as I will work up a nice appetite for your cake 😉

Exactly right, fantastic conditions! Early swim is highly recommended to enjoy the gorgeous sunrise!
Surprisingly despite the cold wind the water was warm, it’s time people to pack that wetsuit away!
Michael thanks for the company this morning 🙂

A whale of an idea:
Since the conditions are lake-like and the whales appear to be too shy to come in closer, how about taking tomorrow’s swim to the outside of the Bower point??

Michel will have to confirm, but he was telling me he saw 4 pods this morning, all very far away, he was using binoculars, so I think going to the Bower would not help much 😉

Oh poo Gaetan, don’t be such a wet blanket. I’ll go by myself then. Lesley – still keen?
And here’s a little whale related clip by the makers of The Cove: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mVghxxBBqo

Oh my gosh Anna, I want to swim with an Orca soooo badly… and watching the first bit of this video has just made my desire even stronger.
I don’t like the distressing bit of them being captured at all !
The ones swimming free please… and oh I should clarify; the family of Orcas that eat fish please not the ones that eat seals – thank you !

Conditions were just ideal for the 6:20 swim as shown in photos. Hope to be there again tomorrow while it lasts. Maybe the whales will want to join us too.

Hmmm, I was thinking about attempting Cottesloe to Rottnest again. This guy was taken at the Indian Teahouse, which is where they start that swim. Lake Burley Griffin doesnt sound so bad all of a sudden.

What colour were his bathers. I understand Great Whites are afraid of Pink!

You can’t swim to whales, they have to want to swim with you! But I agree, put ourselves in the whale zone and make friendly whale noises underwater, led by Izzi. Don’t splash too much and hopefully they will investigate us!

It all sounds a bit odd to me. Did the shark ‘Peel’ him to eat him???

I reckon he, the man taken by shark who took-his-budgies-off-before-eating-him..did a “patrick mcdermott” (olivia newton john ex)… they will find him alive and well in south america on a boat!

I believe these are perfect conditions for ME !!! I love flat, no swell & a great swim. Missing the swim & everyone, but look out, we are on the way back !!! Sitting in Jules homeland waiting for flight to Singapore & rest there before the next journey home. Hopefully back to swim (or coffee) on Sunday morning. Looking forward to seeing our Dardanellens (with bells on) on Sunday morning…… & everyone else of course. Vicky & Mahdi
