09/08/2012 – Flipper dance

91 Bold & Beautiful swimmers

were attracted to the bright light this morning.  This lovely sunrise was taken by Lesley

It’s almost as bright as Jenny K’s and Vicki’s smiles 🙂

Jenny is the reason B&B began, when I offered to take her for a swim that fateful morning on 27th December 2008.  So we all (all 3100 of us and still growing) have a lot to thank Jenny for !

Vicki too, as she has purchased every single one of our hot pink B&B caps from Access Communications !

Thank you both very much, as these two things have totally transformed Manly in the mornings 🙂 xx

This morning presented us with a cloud covered sky and a beautiful calm ocean, on the surface at least…

With lots of pink covering the bay as always 🙂

Underwater however, it was not so calm…

Lesley please don’t tease the jimbles on the blog again, they came out in force this morning !!

Sooooo many salps too, not that we mind them as they don’t sting.  In fact you can swim faster through them as they give you something to push off from 😉

A few other kinds of harmless jellies around too

WIth a flipper dance led by Nicole at Shelly as she is weening herself off them slowly, with only one today 😉

Peta on the other hand was on the nose… ??  Oh no that’s right, she had a jimble sting her on her nose 🙁

The water is still beautifully clear enabling us to enjoy the plethora of marine life that’s around including a beautiful big wobbegong, a juvenile dusky whaler, a cuttlefish and a numb fish, none of which I saw 🙁

I was too busy persevering with an attempt to capture the leatherjackets

Large schools of luderick which seem to be eating the salps ??

A well camouflaged flathead

Plus this lovely PJ with what looks like might be a sore on his dorsal fin ?? but he definitely has a friend travelling along side him, check out his right pectoral fin 🙂

5 swimmers braved the jimbles for a double lap.  Now that’s hard core, there were blankets of them.

Enjoy this lovely little video here of Michel’s taken yesterday morning.  Wait for the end… not sure who gets the biggest shock… 😉

Plus a slightly different view of our bay, kindly shared by Elaine DJ which she took from a Seaplane yesterday !! 🙂

The article featuring Anna talking about the benefits of group activities and in particular B&B along with photo will be published in the 31st August copy of Sydney Morning Herald Magazine, so please look out for it.

Super sized southerly swell predicted for tomorrow but it should be calm for us as we are dutifully protected from the southerlies by North Head 🙂

Some great photos just in from Jeff, check out the beautiful numb fish 🙂

If the jimbles are back, I’m giving up my winter without wetsuit campaign!! Even if it only lasted one day…!!

Lesley I blame you! For teasing that poor Jimble yesterday. I have never seen them thicker.

Jules, I’m so proud you used the word ‘plethora’ – its my favourite!
How huge is the jimble in Jeff’s last photo, 6ft at least!!

What an amazing lot of marine life out there today. Thanks for the video Michel. I saw the catfish, cuttlefish, groupers etc but no sharks though others saw all 3, the PJs, duskies and a wobbegong.
My Facebook photo of the sunrise this morning inspired Peta to jump on her bike and come down for a swim but sorry about the jimble on your nose Peta. (lucky you’ve a small nose!) Remember you have to follow someone hot on their toes and they’ll catch the jimbles for you!
Thank you Jenny K for asking Jules to take you out for a swim and starting off this amazing swim Group and of course for Jules for keeping it going and all her work behind the scenes. Vicky H is so generous donating all the pink hats too. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

All the photos are AMAZING, the salp pics are fab – glad I wasn’t there today for the pretty little jimbles though! Promise me they’ll be gone by Friday.
