70 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
7 swimmers enjoyed an early swim, four of whom headed off ~5.40 and made it to Freshie and back and the others a slightly more civilised 5.50 to Queensie and back before our Shelly swim.
Some lovely early sunrise photos courtesy of Gaetan. Including Cae and James at Freshie, Cae at QC with sun reflection from building and one of the storm last night.
There were some great waves providing a lot of fun for some this morning. Every now and again a super sized set came through, so those of us who don’t enjoy so much adrenaline at 7am had a pleasent stroll around to half way beach for our slightly more lesiurely swim. It wasn’t free of excitiement though as we did have to perform a flipper rescue as one flipper escaped the clutches of it’s swimmer 😉
Check out some of these sensationsal aerial photos that Dave Thomas from Eco Divers (and ishootmermaids) took of our group on Saturday morning, which just happened to be our record swim morning too 🙂 There are more which I will put up on the website later.
Well it’s not long now until Australia Day… In true B&B tradition we would like to encourage you all to participate in the swim on Australia Day, same as always, Manly to Shelly and back at 7am. Please bring friends and family so they can join in too.
Please remember though, as with all of our swims we don’t provide water safety, everyone swims at their own risk at all times. So… if you bring someone with you it would be most appreciated if you would swim with them, as this enables everyone to join in and have a fun morning together.
If anyone has water craft of any description it would be fabulous if you would be able to join in on your craft too. The more the merrier !! 🙂
The Australia Day swim really is a fantastic morning, and our very own trumpet playing swimmer, Greg McDonagh as agreed to play Advance Australia Fair for us on the beach before we depart again.
It’s a wonderful atmosphere and a great way to start the day so please come down and join in.
Manly Wine will be putting on a special $10 coffee and breakfast too 🙂
On not quite such a happy note, Luitz Koopman had a nasty
accident with his finger and an angle grinder last week. Hope you recovery well and get back in the water soon Luitz.

Yep, this morning, about an hour or two after I got back from the swim. I heard the shark alarm and thought how nice that murky water was after the big rains… All sorts of things could’ve been swimming there along with me.

Jules very modestly didn’t say that she was the one who performed the heroic flipper rescue this morning. One of my fins decided to go exploring while I was fighting my way out of the surf. Jules spotted it way out, courageously dived back in, chased and caught it before it got to NZ. Thanks Jules!

Does anyone want to do an unofficial Bolderdash at 5.50 tomorrow?

And now you’ve made me sick laffing with that video Jules. Is there no end to your powers?

Funny video Jules – although I cringed a bit!!
Well glad the shark alarm didn’t go off at 7.15am that’s for sure! Although I saw enough of them (sharks) on the way over to Shelly today… PLUS a lovely ‘group’ of about 8 cute puffer fish sitting on a rock – tried to catch you Jules so you could take photo but once you get going…. 😉
