06/12/2011 – Summer Blues

December 6, 20119

51 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

This prolonged chilly ‘summer’ water and the cloudy skies are becoming a little too familiar… and seem to be encouraging everyone to stay snuggled in their doonas.

There was relatively limited activity this morning including early with only 2 swimmers; Brendan Maher and Tim Holloway taking on the Bolderdash and another 2 swimmers; DaveAdams and Big Rick enjoying a bonus early lap to Shelly.

Scooter swam over a solo Dusky Whaler, Fifi’s resident Red Worwong was fossicking around off the point and a catfish was out of place on the sand half way across to Shelly.  Attracta found the rest of our fishy friends all huddled together at Half Way.

Hopefully tomorrow will be warmer for Peta Saunders and Neil MacKensie’s first ever Bolderdash swim !!  Come down and join us, it might be a tad chilly for this time of year, but it really is great conditions to get into the longer swims as it’s so beautifully calm.  Ok, that’s agreed then… see you all at 5.50am tomorrow 😉

It’s nice to recieve the on tour photo below of Anita Keelan in Ireland.  We’re missing you Anita !  You must be home soon… ?

Safe travels back to Jim, who has been visiting us from
Queensland to interview all the Dardanellian’s for his upcoming book.  Thanks Jim we’ve really enjoyed your company and hope to see you again soon.

Tim’s fact of the day: “Beluga whales like to sing and are always making new sounds.”

Water Temperature 18.9 degrees.
Air Temperature 18.0 degrees.
Sunrise 5.37am.
Sunset 7.55pm.
High Tide: 6.06am.
Low Tide: 12.38pm.

Box jelly stings, 12 hour asthma attacks, “skin as weathered as a crocodile handbag”; it makes ultra long distance ocean swimming sound really attractive. “It Ain’t Me, Babe” indeed.
…and of course Australians don’t count, especially if they do it in a shark cage! At least Susie had the good sense to retire after she did it.

What a compelling story Julia! She has a very special mind indeed. And to think she can’t look after herself but needs others to cook for her and take care of her finances.
    I’m totally intrigued.

    Anna,
How far do I need to swim to get others to look after my finances?
