91 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
An amazing 29 people did the beautiful early Bolderdash to Queenscliff and back this morning and it was absolutely gorgeous in perfect conditions. It’s great the Bolderdash’s are proving to be so popular amongst all levels of our swimmers, and especially so early on in the Boldedash season.
Some lovely early photos courtesy of Gaetan Guilhon this morning, thanks Gaetan.
As we entered the water for the regular 7am swim there was a pod of dolphins waiting for us just off the point. They are learning the time you know 😉 I think that’s 4 dolphin swims that we’ve had in ~3 weeks and I’m sure I heard them say they would be back at the same time for their pink caps tomorrow.
However, what started as a perfect swimming morning didn’t end on such a high as there were a few rogue blue bottles on steriods in the bay at Shelly Beach that unfortunately a few swimmers had an intimate encounter with. I hope you are all feeling better now, they sure looked like hurtie stings today. The morale of the swim is stay at the other side of the pack to Brendan Maher as he copped another bluie again today, I think you have taken over from Iain as our blue bottle magnet Brendan 🙁
Check out page 11 of today’s Manly Daily… Bold & Beautiful are currently rated as Manly’s number 1 Meeting Spots 🙂
Thanks to Daniel Howitt who is quoted as mentioning us and to everyone else who listed B&B as their favourite to get us to the current number 1 !!
Go the B&B aka all of us 🙂

Brendan,
Beware the Blue Demons as they will plague your summer if they continue to choose you as their taste of choice for this season.
Sorry to John and the girls who also faced the blue demons wrath this morning.
Fingers crossed that Poseidon drags the blue demons away and sends his daughters back to play.

Thanks Iain, Cathie and Fiona for your help with that sting. If I’m missing tomorrow, it’s not because I’m apparently the new bluebottle magnet and have chickened out. There were others who were stung worse than me, I hope they’re ok.

I really didnt suspect I had hit a bluebottle, it was such an extraordinarily painful sting that I thought it was some kind of monster jimble until I got to the sand and saw the sticky blue tentacles on my hand!
SO excruciating!
but it was nothing compared to the others, Brendan was so amazing while covered with a whole HEAP of sticky blue, and barely whimpered. What a champ.
I have only just stopped aching, and I feel for the poor girls that were stung on the faces. I hope you are both feeling better nowXXX

An enjoyable bolderdash swim and a close encounter with dolphins swimming just below us,the day was starting well. Pity we experienced blueies on the way to Shelly. Hoping all those who got stung are OK.

Lovely swim this morning – calm, great visibility, dolphins playing, lots of fish and then the painful bluebottles. Thanks Maureen and Nicolee for the first aid, Jules for sharing her water and Stephen for his precious coins. Hand swollen but pain just about gone. Hoping everyone else is recovering ok.

So do bluebottles sting dolphins??? Anyone expert enough in marine biology to answer that one?
Could the answer be tomorrow’s fact of the day?
And sympathy to those who were stung… I got a small bluebottle sting on my chest… piffling in comparison.

Brendan –
How brave you are. I’ll be there. Attending a 50th tonight at South Curly SC so do not know what state I will be in come 550 but even then there will probably still be more toxins in your blood than mine!
Also, a BIG THANKS to you, Iain, Collie, Cae, and Maureen, for already donating to the MoBro fundraising cause. Nearing the $500 mark in donations already! The mo will make its first B&B appearance tomorrow!

Swam with Dolphins – euphoria, getting stung by a moster bluie – dispair! But thank you so much to everyone who aided my recovery, B&B really are a brilliant bunch and I now own a fantastic, bright pink cossie… feels like I passed an initiation test! (Jules cossie fits perfect!)
