Well, hello Spring!
Thereβs something lovely about waking up on the first day of September and knowing that winter is officially behind us.
And what better way to welcome spring than with a little bob in the ocean?
This morning at Manly, the conditions were just beautiful. The waves were small and ruffly, the sun was shining, the sand was warming up and the water was sitting at a very refreshing 16.8Β°C.
Now, 16.8Β°C might sound a little chilly (and believe me, you certainly know youβre getting in!), but once youβre actually in the water, it was just so lovely to have a bob around and frolic with those gentle little waves.
I also got to greet the swimmers as they came back from their 7am swim across to Shelly.
The reports were that it was a lovely swim, and there were plenty of happy faces coming back up the beach.
And then, as seems to happen so often around here, it was time to sit on the bench and try to solve the problems of the world.
You never quite know what type of conversation youβre going to have down at the beach. Thatβs part of what makes Manly so special. The conversations are always different, always interesting, and thereβs always someone with a story, an opinion, an idea or simply a smile to share.
There is something wonderfully consistent about it, though: smiles, positivity and warm hearts.
Itβs one of those little moments that reminds you how lucky we are to have this ocean, this beach and this community right on our doorstep.

A few gentle waves.

A chat on the bench.
And that unmistakable feeling that spring has arrived.
