24 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
Let’s start off with one of Gaetan’s beautiful sunrise shots… ok, so that was from yesterday…
Interesting to see what a little rain does… there were nearly as many swimmers on Wednesday’s early Bolderdash as there were in total this morning 😉
Brendan Maher, Gaetan Guilhon and Tim Holloway attempted an early Bolderdash to Queenscliff and back this morning but abandoned ship at the volley ball courts as Brendan got a blue bottle on steroids wrapped right around him.
Good job Gaetan was there with his trusty camera for evidence… It’s amazing you’re sporting that smile with that sting Brendan !! What some people will do for a photo on the blog… nice Calvin Klein undies by the way 😉
Check out the photo opposite of a bluie with a 3m tentacle, you can see Gaetan’s flippers there as a reference point – ouch !
Nick TB took Chihiro for her first swim to Shelly Beach and back at 6.20 this morning and despite Ragnill and Heidi’s written confirmation that they would be there !! They traded their early double lap for a double latte instead… They did at least look beautiful for their coffee which thankfully gave them enough stamina to front up for the regular 7am swim 😉
Amazingly there were no blue bottles at all from Manly to Shelly – phew ! The visibility was fantastic as the water was super clear. Simon Herfort saw not only his first stingray but 3 of them !! Check out the photo of one of them below with a cute pattern across his nose 😉
There is a southerly wind predicted all day today, so hopefully there will be no bluies tomorrow.
There are lots of people, including a few first timers coming for the early Bolderdash tomorrow morning, leaving Manly at 5.50am, so if you’re tempted tomorrow is the perfect one for you to start with. Come on, give it a go, it’s a beautiful 3km swim there and back, you’ll love it 🙂
Gaetan Guilhon took some great photos for us this morning, thanks Gaetan.

A few observations;
– The water temperature surely was a lot warmer than 14.5 today..?
– Yes, nice pics of Brendan in designer undies and sporting a super stinger scar with a smile, but WHERE ON EARTH did you find this changing room?? SPACIOUS! And what appears to be individual towel hooks with names neatly placed above. OMG where do you find this Rolls Royce of a changing room?!
– That’s all.

Thanks Anna! I fear I’ve broken some arcane rule of the Manly Surf Club Inc (aka Old Men’s Club) by allowing it’s mysteriuos secrets to be published to the outside world. I may have the Stone of Shame tied to my ankle. Thanks to a hot shower, ice pack and Stephen’s miracle gel I’m painfree and ready for another swim tomorrow.

Cool pic outside the coffee shop. Must have got a few strange looks in that outfit. Lin and I were planning on swimming but the all night rain put me off. I went to QC pool instead. Maybe do a BD tomorrow?

It was the rain that put us off doing our first ever early lap as well, but the 7 am swim was actually very nice. There were very few people around to admire Heidi having coffee in her googles and pink cap 🙂

With every bolderdash, the shade of my complexion goes a little greener, only does it fade a little when I get to join in over Xmas holidays.
I fades slightly in colder months as well.
But generally i walk around with a disposition of repect and envy for Bolderdashers. I am off to the corner now for small session of private crying.

Tomorrow is predicted to be even calmer than today!!
It will be SUNNY with southerly breeze of only 5kph, so NO bluebottles! The water temperature should stay at nearly 20c and is evidently really clear.
What a great day to HAVE A GO at the Bolderdash! It should be really good.

I heard he inspected all the hooks and chose the newest and cleanest pair! (The advantage of no lockers!)

Michael,
You can confirm for me is it at 20C that we do the ceremonial tearing off and burning of wet-suits for those still wearing them?
