The late sunrise and dim light from the beach front were unable to hide the fact that the tide was very low. In fact it was only .34m high at 6.23am. so the lucky 6.30’s literally walked to the point.

The swim to Shelly was so lovely. After adjusting to the 18.4 degree sharp shock of the water on entry at Manly, the gentleness of the water was quite meditative. There was only a short pause at the point before JK shouted the Lets Go, I think he is very mindful of the potential for hypothermia for some of the www swimmers. Very appreciated JK. Visibility was 100% perfect the whole way across and the reduced week day numbers made it seem less chaotic. Many have sought the added warmth of a wetsuit but there are still lots of swimmers determined to get their www badge. The morning temperature was 8 degrees as I drove to manly this morning so it is more than twice as warm in the water as out.
There was a lot of jovial celebrating amongst the different groups at Shelly as Anne and Danny were gathering to shout the “LETS GO”
Tracey, Lainey, Martin and Michele
Greg making sure he got into a photo

Anne very kindly took all these beautiful underwater photos, as I was unable to use the blog camera because the SD memory card had not been returned. To all my fellow bloggers, who do such an amazing job sharing the joys of the swim with everyone, if you could return the SD cards that would be really appreciated. JK mentioned he buys at least 2 a month and many never get returned. I use an SD card reader I picked up at JB HiFi, so I can download the photos on to my phone straight after the swim

This ring was left in the ladies change room this morning. Management has it in safe keeping.
This was the beach as I was preparing to leave this morning. It didn’t look much different to when I arrived, the clouds still blanketed the sky, the gentle waves continued to lap upon the shoreline, and there remained a definite chill in the air. But I left the beach thinking, I have just spent 2 hours surrounded by some very wise, extremely talented, quite often quirky and a little zany, wonderfully caring and supportive, fun loving friends. I have enjoyed my exercise and chatted and laughed over a hot coffee. So even though our bay seemed unchanged I felt the amazing impact of the morning and paused to acknowledge the changes it has made to the way I enjoy my days. It’s a great feeling!
I hope everyone stays warm and has a wonderful day
Lisa

I am sure it takes quite a bit of effort for yourself and all the other bloggers & it is certainly appreciated.
Every swim seems to be different & you always seem to capture those differences

Where are the Port Jacksons this winter? I spotted one today but I think it’s only the second I’ve seen this year.
