Dark and Warm – Tuesday 5th of June

June 5, 20183

A metre to metre and half of South East swell with 10 seconds between sets and light south west winds up to 9 knots was mixed in with threatening distant rain clouds. While a little dark, it was really warm in the water with a toasty 20 degrees by the time you hit the point.

While it looked dark and dismal just being there was worthy of a jump for joy. Reminds me of a song

As the water cools to freezing

Despite the chill being quite displeasing

Glory of the day all seizing

Swimmers of the B&B

If you look closely you will see the smaller than usual pack soaking in the summer water temps.

Here is a closer look

Meanwhile back onshore the tail of the 6:30 crew pulled in with Matt Hayes sweeping to victory in the 2000K race.

And Claire Martin let it slip she is a birthday girl prompting rewrites of the script for JK at Shelley.

Meanwhile back at Shelley, John is marshalling the crew for a Happy Birthday song of grand proportions.

And on the way home some great sets came through at the Bower

And thanks to Edwina’s Turtle chase a photo in case you missed it

And from Elaine

Meanwhile back at the ranch, take note no board riders Ian Mcknight

And the recovery lounge being well looked after by Derek, Ian after a fin chop to the elbow after a wayward board rider tried a 360 manoeuvre round him that didnt quite come off as planned.

And another 2000K celebrity Henrietta May. Amazing

And lastly if you find one of these, it belongs to Roz Beaver.

Have a great week

Cheers

Brian

WINTER BADGES

The Winter swimming season is finally here!

Although the water temperature may be a little colder than you might like, there are several advantages of swimming in winter, including flat seas, good visibility and no bluebottles.

Perhaps the biggest advantage is that you can also qualify for a winter badge by swimming a minimum of 20 times between 1st June and 31st August.

You must also swim in at least 7 different weeks. If you manage to do all of your qualifying swims without a wetsuit (or other thermal enhancing equipment), you will also qualify for the coveted WWW badge (Winter without wetsuit).

So start now, and don’t forget to log your swims to qualify.

I love the shot of the group in the water, I can never capture that. I hope I didn’t literally start a turtle chase, but I can’t help calling out to whoever’s nearby 😩😂 he’s so beautiful
