Awe

13/09/20260

Sunday 13/9/26  IWT 18, OWT 18

The ocean has changed again, surge in and out of  Manly, and a nice escalator coming out of Shelley.   Small surge the whole swim, but still a glassy surface.

The point has received a lot of sand over the past weeks, the ocean has been active.  Viz is not the best, but there is plenty to see, just no photo ops.

It got me thinking, what is it that pushes us all?  For me it is feeling the moods and changes in the ocean, and seeing the wonder beneath the surface.  The swim itself is a bonus for my body, the experience of the swim soothes and calms my whole being.

A dear friend loaned me Julia Baird’s book ‘Phosphorescence’.  Julia captures it perfectly.  Awe and wonder.  Something bigger than us.  Something we cannot control so we just surrender.  A long time B&Ber writing of something that I, a newbie of less than 12 months, is only just getting to understand.

Every swim is a new swim.  No swim is the same.  For those of us that need that constant stimulation, it is a bit of an oxymoron that  the stimulation is what soothes and calms.

Enjoy,

Kerrie x
