54 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
Another delightful swim in paradise with the most magnificent sunrise 🙂
7 dusky whaler sharks, 2 super sized flatheads, 1 normal sized flathead, lots of groupers, jimbles, some unique looking jellies, yellowtail scads, blackfish, sting ray, rock cockys, mados, batfish, luderick, whiting, bream, old wives etc…
Gosh it’s beautiful conditions at the moment, it really is worth rolling out from under that warm snug doona first thing in the morning !
Some beautiful sunrise shots this morning courtesy of Gaetan Guilhon, thanks Gaetan.
James Goins took some lovely shots of the jellies this morning which are below. The first two are Jimbles, but what is the third one ??? Looks tropical.
The bonus of the morning was baby JJ came for Brekkie so there were lots of cuddles to be had 🙂
Water Temperature 18.3 degrees.
Air Temperature 9 degrees.
Sunrise 7.01am.
Sunset 4.55pm.
Low Tide: 10.46am.
High Tide: 5.27pm.

Congratulations on a big effort Iain and Collie at the MS swim. They were in the water so much I hardly got a chance to speak to them. I had a very easy time of it by comparison. I’m definitely up for a B&B team next year…and bear in mind there is a prize for best fancy dress!

Tip for anyone that goes snorkeling:
Wear a wetsuit. It’s bloody freezing without one.

Nice pics of the Jimbles, they look so calm, it is a pity they hurt so much.

Thanks Gaetan for sharing your fantastic snorkling footage. We are truly spoilt with what we get to swim with everyday.
Apart from the jellies, the water is amazing at the moment. Winter is really the best time to swim.
I hope the jellies go away tomorrow.

I was so impressed with Gaetan’s snorkelling video that I have sent it on to Mark at the OzMus – hope that’s OK, Gaetan!
Re James’s gorgeous jellyfish photos, the third one looks like an eastern comb jelly, Bolinopsis sp. I’ll check with the invertebrate experts at the OzMus tomorrow.

Gaetan, AWESOME video, it really was sensational snorkeling this weekend and you captured it beautifully 🙂
If these beautiful conditions keep up maybe we should do another B&B Bower Swim, what do you reckon ??

Neil it’s more likely to be that you are less of a princess than Tim.
Tim please don’t take offence as I’m just jealous of how good you look in a Tiara

Great idea to have a B&B team next year !!
We’ll probably have to have a ballot for the lucky swimmers who will be able to share Iain’s Midnight – 6am shift with him though, as I’m sure there will be so much competition for that time…

Actually I think a lot of poeple would like to see the motorbike, maybe we can swim there tomorrow on our way to Shelly if the visibility is still great?
