26/06/2011 – Sunday Breast…

70 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

Another day in paradise, it was just stunning out there, the water is sooo clear and warm – beautiful ! Well except the swarm of Jimbles that is. I think there is a 10 generation tribe out there… some have ultra long tentacles and some look like new babies as they are only about 2 inches long.

There was a Catfish, Wobbegong, flathead, old wifes, cuttlefish, groupers, sting rays and plenty more 🙂

Alison Christie got a Jimble stuck
down her cossie, need I say much more than ouch !! It certainly caused a big commotion at breakfast but sadly Ali wouldn’t allow a photo for the blog 🙁
Ali did say it was worth it though as Manly Wine felt sorry for her and gave her a free coffee and she saw a cuttlefish and a grouper with a sea urchin in it’s mouth which it was banging on the rocks with another fish following it hoping for some leftovers.

Check out some photos of
yesterday’s afternoon snorkel, it was gorgeous, I’ll put the rest of the photos up on the website shortly, courtesy of Stephen Coulter, Tim Ettle and Michel Le Vieux.

A few of the girls went out last night and it is of particular note that the only two who showed up for swimming this morning were Kelly Johnson and myself…. gosh we’re good 🙂

Congratulations to Brendan Maher, Collie Kinsela, Gerd
Bernhard who Iain McGregor swam for the 24 hour swim a thon for MS last night.  Iain swam ~500 laps over 8 hours through the night and fronted up for coffee, thankfully with his parents in tow to make sure he didn’t fall over.  Well done guys !

Whales at Manly right now 🙂

Water Temperature 19.1 degrees.
Air Temperature 11 degrees.
Sunrise 7.01am.
Sunset 4.55pm.
Low Tide: 9.59am.
High Tide: 4.39pm.

Hi Guys, Thanks for your donations for MS24. Little bits of info inclued the sighting of other B&B swimmers at the event including Richard Murray, Billie Joseph, and especially part time B&B swimmer Rob De Ridder who has MS and raised over $17,000 for the event. PS With Iain’s 25 km he smashed out his last 3.5 km at the same speed as his first 3.5 km. In the end they had to send him home because they could no long afford to feed him.
How about a fully B&B team next year?

Just superb swimming conditions this morning together with that backdrop of a sailing boat silhouetted against the sunrise. Fortunately I was lucky to avoid those jimbles. Well done, especially Iain,on the marathon effort for MS.

Just finished a beautiful snorkel saw all the things we saw yesterday with the addition of the motorbike 🙂 🙂
A group of us are taking a picnic to North Head at 4pm to look for whales. Park in the furthest car park and take the track to the left to the corner lookout.
Bring camera, binoculars, picnic, friends, family… the more the merrier.
Hope to see you there !! If you can’t find us just call me: 0438 363 452

Thank you everyone for the kind MS Swim sponsorship of Brendan, Collie and myself.
It is a fantastic event and one we should put a team in for next year.
Might note that Collie smashed out 6 to 8 hours swimming as well last night/ or ridiculously early this morning if you prefer.
Look forward to seeing you all and hopefully no jimbles tomorrow,

Well done on the MS swim guys. It’s a cause close to my heart, and I’d definitely be keen to swim it next year as part of a B&B team.
    See you next weekend.
P.S. glad the training’s going well Iain!
