29/05/2012 – Sand Dollars

29/05/20124

Over 40 Stalwart Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

A wet start to the day whether you swam or not this morning.

But well worth coming for a swim as there’s nothing like a nice pre-swim huddle to get you ready for the day.

We almost need a torch with the tick sheet for these wintry mornings.

There’s nothing wintry about this photo, in fact there’s definitely a spring in Michael’s step…

Most people where their flippers on their feet but Libby likes to wave with hers.

Carlton’s enjoying a pre-swim shower at the point while John H is displaying his gloves which he as confirmed help to keep you warm 🙂

A bit of rain isn’t enough to stop the smiles.  It’s always worth getting up, as you always enjoy the swim once you’re in regardless of the weather.

Check out this perfect little wave at the end with three B&B swimmers all on the one wave !

10 swimmers also enjoyed an early, dark lap into Shelly this morning 😉

Now how’s these two photos for amazing !!!  Courtesy of Gaetan our resident fish whisperer 🙂

The identification is from one of Jane’s colleagues at the Australian Museum, Stephen Keable “It is a sea urchin, one of the flattened types often called sand dollars. I can’t be sure of the species but it is most likely Clypeaster australasiae. A number of sea urchins cover themselves in shell or algae and also burrow in sediment.”

Jane has found this seriously cute video, make sure you watch it through to at least 5 minutes as that’s where it gets seriously cute !
