98 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
The water temperature is slowly making it’s way back up, making the non-wetsuit wearers especially pretty happy !! 🙂

A beautiful warm 24 carat glow as we gathered at the point this morning.

With equally as warm smiles at Shelly

The blanket of pink sets back of across the bay

For yet another successful winter swim 🙂
426 people have swum at least once in the first 29 days of winter, impressive hey !! All 426 swimmers are currently on target for their 2012 winter badge !! To qualify you only need to swim 20 times over a minimum of 7 different weeks and there’s still 63 days and 9 weeks of winter left to go so… it’s not too late to start either !! Complete all of your qualifying swims without a wetsuit and get your ‘winter without wetsuit’ badge too (badges cost $10 each). Check out the list of who’s who in the winter zoo here

4 swimmers also enjoyed an early lap into Shelly, 3 up to Queensie and 3 the double afterwards.
I have registered Bold & Beautiful as a team in the ‘Relay For Life’ Cancer Council event at Manly Oval from 2pm Sat 15th Sept – 8.30am Sun 16th Sept. It is an 18hr event raising money for Cancer research. Teams can be between 10-15 people so it would be great to see B&B out their in the pink, either wearing our caps, cossies, t-shirts, hoodies (whichever takes your fancy) as part of the event and raising money for this great cause. One of our passionate swimmers, Jules Mackin who is a cancer survivor herself, has very kindly offered to be the co-ordinator for our team, so if you have any questions please contact her directly on: mackin888@hotmail.com or 0430 156 170.
The aim on the day is to have at least 1 person from the team walking round the oval at any one time, as the idea is that cancer never sleeps hence why it goes through the night. There is some flexibility though and camping on the oval is also an option if anyone thinks that is a fun idea… The main focus of course is that we have fun together and take part.
It would be fantastic to get as many of us as involved as possible. If need be we can always enter more teams… 😉 So if you would like to join the B&B team please click here followed by clicking on ‘join our team’ on the right hand side.
Or alternatively if you can’t particpate on the day but you’d like to get involved please feel free to sponsor our team by clicking here followed by clicking on ‘donate’ on the right hand side.
The next play coming up at Glen St Theatre is “Stop. Rewind” which is showing from 3rd – 14th July. If you’d like to see this fantastic production don’t forget to take advantage of B&B’s special price of $49 per adult ticket (usually $58) to an evening performance (excluding opening night). To take up this great offer simply enter BEAUTIFUL into the promotion code when booking online or when calling the Box Office on 9975 1455
In case you missed it yesterday please click here to watch the video of assembled footage from the scattering of Bruce’s ashes on Sunday.

I just wanted to say a big Thanks to the lovely ladies who coached me through the massive waves this morning. I went into slight panic mode at the sight of the set coming in and they calmed me down and talked me through it! Thank you so much! All in all was a lovely swim once out through the waves, even if I was last into Shelly!! Thanks again ladies

LOL …and I don’t look happy!!!
Yeah Claire – we all help each other out through the waves – and a thanks from me to Jules also. They were scareeee – the only reason I didn’t turn back to half way was coz I was so bleedin cold….I figured the numbness would outweigh the fear!

I didnt even feel the cold as I was too focused on making it through the waves! It definately hasnt put me off the swims knowing people look out for each other in the BB swims!

I saw these funny Diving pics (as in, into a pool diving)
This one looks like Miles does as he gets out of water after swimming the ColderDash! 😀

Tomorrow will be SUNNY, with a light westerly breeze, so maybe a little colder. Who knows?
The swell will be a little bit higher than today [1.8m vs 1.5m today] with a longer period.[11sec vs 9]
Think about your entry and exit, [maybe even read those notes of mine] and if you have any doubts, don’t hesitate to use the halfway option. A lot of people did that today, and why not?

Claire, Lori and I recognised that face instantly. Been there done that 🙂
Please carry on swimming with the B&B, and don’t forget the halfway beach option is always available.
