153 Bold & Beautiful swimmers !!
Enjoyed this spectacular morning together.
It is smack bang in the middle of winter and we had a record turnout of swimmers for a regular winter swim today – Fantastic !! 🙂

With Jon kindly putting goggles on the sun…

And Michael Crawford feeling comfy now he’s back at home in his wetsuit and out of that unpleasant 26 degree water off Hawaii…

Although some of us are praying for slightly warmer water here…

It really is ‘bloody lovely’, and 500 people can attest to that as that’s how many people have swum at least once so far already this winter 🙂

If you haven’t looked at our winter tally before, it’s well worth a look and you should definitely look here now !!! It tells you who’s swum, who’s qualified, who’s on target and most importantly, if you are at risk of missing out on that badge if you don’t swim again soon !! It’s seriously cool thanks to Magnus 🙂
34 swimmers have qualified already, 303 swimmers are currently on target and 163 of you need to swim soon or you will miss your chance to qualify, as there are only 47 days of winter left across 7 different weeks. To qualify you need to swim 20 times over a minimum of 7 different weeks !! Don’t let it slip you by, jump in and swim tomorrow. It’s beautiful, you won’t regret it 🙂
It was great to see Murray from Sprout Daily out there with us again this morning 🙂

And it was wonderful to see Anne Edwards up and about, back with us today too, not quite swimming yet but hopefully it won’t be long now Anne, keep up the good recovery xx

Brekkie was that extra little bit special today too, thanks to James and Maureen for their beautiful homemade pecan pies !! Thank you 🙂
14 swimmers continued on for a double and 4 of those for a further triple lap, see… it’s still not cold 😉
James, Richard and Simon also ventured a little further a field by going around the back of the Bower which we can enjoy vicariously through Simon’s great photos.

How about these gorgeous photos of an octopus taken by Gaetan on the rocks near the rock pool yesterday.

Plus a sensational video here of the Giant Cuttlefish taken by Francois last weekend, it’s well worth the watch.
Plus a lovely range of photos from yesterday’s swim courtesy of Simon.

Magical indeed:-)
No large sharks, no surf, no jimbles (that I heard of), so what could cause any trouble on such a lovely morning? Any guesses?
At breakfast, round one small table, I heard of not one, but two painful head-butt incidents this morning! Ouch!! If you find yourself swimming against the masses for any reason, best to pay special attention or turn round and join the pack:)

What a great morning, Jules. Congrats to all on the Winter Record! How winter swimming has grown in the last few years.
A few of us nutters swam from Dee Why to Manly yesterday, with the super support of some super girls: Nicole Piha paddled along with us in Alex’s kayak while Nicolee followed along from headland to headland on the cliff tops. They were both armed with cameras and got some great shots. All we had to do was swim! Our local foreshore was proudly on display on an AWESOME morning.
Life is good!
Enjoy these photos if you have a few minutes:

Gaetan’s video is superb – look at the detail on all those fishes! And the octopus is SOOOO cuddly.

So nice to se everyone -all 150+! – this morning. Another land-locked week or so for me then hope to be back in the water. It’s amazing the kind of incentive that Cold & Beautifil badge is! And once again, thank you Julie and Wednesday Leslie for providing my vicarious B&B experiences via blog.

Yes, it’s marvellous. With Francois’s permission I have sent his video to the Marine Invertebrate folk at the OZMUS. I’ll keep you posted.

Yes superbly put Little Sarah. It does seem the real danger lurking in Cabbage Tree Bay, isn’t jimbles or sharks but headbutting latecomers swimming the wrong way! I got banged and butted and laughed at, so beware of this deadly duo…It could be your turn tomorrow!
