14/08/2012 – Happiness and Sparkles

14/08/201212

73 Bold & Beautiful swimmers

Enjoyed a beautiful morning with much calmer seas and a whole lotta sun – yeh !!

Oh, plus a whole lotta neoprene too 😉

The skies are blue, the sun is beaming giving this morning that special kinda sparkle we just love 🙂

With a few nice little waves to liven things up, which Michelle and Jalna chose to take on the chin

whereas Julia jumped for joy 🙂

There was a whole lotta lovin’ for Jonny who’s back from the Olympics 😉

Plus that all important time to get your goggles just right at the point

as well as take some photos.

I particularly love the ‘water on the lens’ special effect on the photos at Shelly 😉

Fifi and Cathie found the largest Wobbegong in our world today.  The viz has cleared up beautifully too, so there’s really no excuse for my creative blur today either 😉

Do Wobbegongs change colour like Cuttlefish ??  Fifi saw this wobbie on the sand where he was camouflaged, then as he moved to his rockie sofa he camouflaged himself there too.

Lots of sand cigars off the point too !

Sven was enjoying riding the highs and lows of this morning’s swell

Plus couldn’t leave out this other ‘special effect’ photo 😉  Do you think it’s going to take off in the photography schools ?

Only John and Michael soaked up the sun with a double lap this morning which is unusual.

Happy 40th birthday to Sharon Dunn today !! 🙂

Sharon was gutted she forgot her pink cap for the City to Surf on Sunday but she did meet a guy who was very blue, possibly from the cold…. maybe he had attempted to get his WWW badge ??

Meanwhile on tour in the Solomon Islands, Graham Kent is getting ready to dive on the Japanese Troop and Supply ship Kinu Gawa Maru, beached during a battle in November 1942, with his dive buddy Sampson 🙂

Gee Graham, that must be really horrible you poor thing.
The BIggest Wobbegoing in the World…I am sure it shifted colours when it sat on its sofa. Cathie can give her learned opinion…
Great dive as usual Jules, all that hypoxic training has really served you well. You must have the Biggest Lungs in The World. Impressive!

Holidays just aren’t the same since Ted and i have started B&B swimming! However lovely they are, we start to have tinges of homesickness when we read blogs like today’s! Port Douglas is warm though and we are looking forward to donning our pink caps at the Great Barrier Reef on Friday! Happy Birthday Sharon!

Beatiful morning indeed.. Except for the fact that I didnt seem to keep up with everyone’s pace! Was everyone super fast today, or was I so badly out of form after city2surf??
Decided to swim close to the rocks in the end to make it look like I’m just exploring underwater life.. hope it worked.
Attracta – will join you and the ‘snorkeling ladies’ tomorrow morning again! Really need that head start!! 🙂

Sharon, big hugs and enjoy your 40s with lots more winter swims:-)
Slow Rainer, fear not – when I return you’ll feel super fast again:-)) We’re joining a race in Hong Kong this Sunday – warm water, no wetsuit and I’ll be pretending to explore underwater life at the back of the pack…..thx for the tip:-))

Hi, due to extended periods in the water- can anyone help me with how to avoid getting bitten by sea lice. Happens at Shelley in the summer but happens at Balmoral all year round. Vasoline does not seem to stop them and toweling down with vinegar afterwards help. But they absolutely feast on me for some reason, so itchy hard to sleep for the next 4 days.
