Some people literally bend over backwards to start their day in this little pocket of the world.
If you were not one of the 310 swimmers who experienced the crystal clear 19.4 degree water today, here is a little of what was happening.
Swimmer detritus hanging out on the hooks.
The change over as the 6.30am mob returns. ‘So many duskies at the point’, is the prevailing greeting.
Waves the size of ripples break the surface as we all glide into the reasonably warm water. While the number of wetsuits is growing it is not that cold – yet!!
Joyful gatherings with a little underwater clowning at the point as the weekend swimmers celebrate their release from the workweek routine.
In the shadows at Shelly little groups gather to natter while a flock fly over the mob.
The reward for a slow return to Manly was an abundance of interesting marine sightings!
Wobbiegongs – one pale and interesting; the other dark and brooding – in the reeds just off Shelly.
Jenny sighting Puffer fish amongst the Old Wives.
A Flathead quickly flicks its blue tail when the camera comes too close.
Almost swept away by an enormous shoal of Yellowtail.
The herald of the beginning of winter; the Giant Cuttlefish have returned.
The serene Diamond Fish cruising around the rocks.
Then there is Sarge. Something about his birthday and seeking satisfaction. . . Perhaps another cupcake (celebrating Steve’s 1000km) is what he is looking for.
B&B on Tour
This is David Shearer at Everest Base Station! The pile behind him is not rubbish but a memorial at Everest base camp made up of Buddhist prayer flags .
May all your movements be happy ones!
Have a spectacular Saturday.

Budgy Smuggler http://budgysmuggler.com.au is currently updating the look of our B&B swimwear. They have some great new designs, but would also like input from B&B swimmers. So we have introduced a DESIGN COMPETITION to allow our swimmers to submit their own designs to feature on the new Budgy Smuggler swimwear.
All designs considered with the best design (if there is one) to be used on the swimwear.
Designs should be funky/fun with a B&B theme, and preferably with a wider appeal outside the B&B community.
Judging panel will comprise the Budgy Smuggler design team (not open to graft or corruption) and selected B&B management (possible opportunity to influence). Submit designs to ugoboyo@gmail.com by Saturday 4th June, so let’s get the creative juices flowing. Budgy Smuggler also encourage feedback on all aspects of the swimwear, including shape, style, fabric etc
Staying safe
If you bring along a friend please ensure they can swim!!!
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

Thanks Shelley. I’m seeing Good People (at the Ensemble with my brother in a significant role), on Thursday. I can highly recommend The Event at Belvoir Street. Opens tonight.

Very late response and apologies, Mary, for a lovely blog and a terrific picture of the puffer fish hovering slowly which had looked pretty blurry to my goggled eyes. Exotic fish, cake and good company – a truly happy start to the day.
