HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEGAN LISA AND PAULA!!!!!

What a beautiful but dark start to a special birthday swim for our 3 birthday people. I am looking forward to the daylight savings change on Sunday!!

It was very nice today but what are those early swimmers doing swimming in pitch black? A little bit of cloud and rain was jsut the perfect setting to a calmish autumn swim.

The Monthly Dinner– 9th April 2019 – Guest Speaker

The Next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 9th April at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. Our guest on the night will be Dr Amy Smoothey, who is a fisheries scientist in the government’s Shark Research Group.  Amy’s shark research will provide scientific-based guidelines for minimising the risk of shark bites within estuaries such as Sydney Harbour, as well as, some of the necessary information to ensure species of sharks in NSW are effectively managed in an ecologically sustainable way.  In her role, Amy is also responsible for investigating the movements of Bull Sharks in NSW waters, shark bites, community engagement and education and is involved in various aspects of the new $16 Million NSW Shark Management Strategy.

Please book early for this event as it is sure to be popular. The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Babewatch Event

I find pop culture references a challenge so I hope my image is ok

Babewatch are holding their annual 6 hr swim next Sunday 7th April and are asking us to get behind their fundraising efforts for 180, a Northern Beaches group set up by young people to address the growing issue of anxiety and depression within our youth.
They will be starting with us at 7 am and having a team of swimmers in the water until 1 pm.

They will also be running a cake stall (and would appreciate donations of goodies to sell by all you wonderful bakers) and if you’d like to relax and de-stress – stop by the stand and get a massage from one of the qualified physiotherapists who are part of Babewatch.

For more information, speak to Murray Colderick or Ali Smith or Mikaila Beaver.
Let’s get behind this wonderful bunch of young people and help them achieve their goal of raising $4,000!

What I have been reading

No Flowers for the general. Pretty good if old fashioned pot boiler. Just the thing

Happy Birthday Ladies and thx for blogging, Elizabeth
As a pitch-black swimmer this morning, let me tell you it’s quite magical – phosphorescence below and stars above (well rather cloudy today), frangipani in the air and dark, glassy water, occasionally meeting up with other swimmers or following their lights.
I love this time of year for swims. Tomorrow is the last chance!
Arvo dip with the fish now!
