7/08/19 Just keeps getting better…!

07/08/20195

They say when something is too good to be true then it usually is. (Just ask Champs and his recent online dating experience!) The only exception to this rule is the little piece of paradise that B&Bers flock to 365 days a year to get their daily dose of medicine! It is too good to be true- BUT – it IS true! It’s available 365 days a year, its free, it has a beautiful marine park, great coffee and an awesome community. Even when the conditions are not so great, there is always something great about the experience!

Its great to be able to wave to the booty campers on our way to the swim as they recover, breathless and perspiring from Storchy’s tough class and know that we won’t be  perspiring like that after our luxurious, invigorating swim!

Its great to have gentle reminders to do some stretching before diving in!

Its great to be greeted every morning by happy, fresh faces! (Not the red, exhausted looking ones from Storchy’s group! 😆  )

Its great to know that even though you are tall, there’s always someone taller!

It’s great to welcome Lainey back from her 7 week 7kilo luggage holiday and wish her  the best of luck at her casual teaching job today! The last relief teacher said she’d rather to stick a pin in her eye than teach that class again. What a glowing endorsement! I’d be rushing off to work too!

Its great to know that you are not the only one navigating the waves and cold at the same time! (where did those waves come from – don’t they know its winter!!!)

See how gentle, calm and idyllic looking this exercise is! None of this jumping up and down, twisting your ankle and hurting your knee and giving yourself a headache like other forms of exercise (did I mention booty camp?)

Its great to know that even if you’ve been away for 3 months, someone is always keen to drown you on your return! Lucky for Michael, Sam hadn’t had his weetbix this morning!

Its great to know that no matter what part of the swim you are on, you’ll always bump into someone who is keen to pose for the blog even if it means struggling to keep their head above water!

Its great to know that there is all manner of marine life minding their own business, (most of the time!) swimming just beneath you! The Grey Nurse was spotted today so the swim back to South Steyne did take a little longer than usual for some, with multiple stops and head counts!

And at the end of a great swim, its great to know that we can warm up in the sun, chat over coffee – and – even if you are having  bad hair day, its great to know that you can bring your brush next time!

In summary – if something is too good to be true – it probably is  – unless its the Band B swim!

Have a great week!

Next B&B Dinner – SOLD OUT.

IF YOU HAVE BOOKED AND CANNOT MAKE IT, PLEASE LET IAN KNOW SO OTHERS CAN ATTEND.

The Next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 13th August at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. Our guest on the night will be B&B Swimmer, Duncan Young, who is the head of health and wellbeing for Lendlease. The title of Duncan’s talk will be ‘Does the ideas of living to 100 excite you or fill you with dread?’ He will speak about ‘living and working in the age of longevity’, what can we learn from super-agers about elongating our healthy lifespans? Don’t miss this very interesting presentation.

Winter swimming
The B&B Winter swimming season starts on 1st June. Although the water temperature may be a little colder than you might like, there are several advantages of swimming in winter, including flat seas, good visibility and no bluebottles. Perhaps the biggest advantage is that you can also qualify for a winter badge by swimming a minimum of 20 times between 1st June and 31st August.

You must also swim in at least 7 different weeks. If you manage to do all of your qualifying swims without a wetsuit (or other thermal enhancing equipment), you will also qualify for the coveted WWW badge (Winter without wetsuit). Start now, and don’t forget to log your swims to qualify.

What a lot of shenanigans (and quite a few hooligans)
That first pic is almost too good to be true…only that I was there and know how good it was
