Keith Richards, Cockroaches and Rob

11/09/20260

Our Team A who stretched for a bay swim (Mel, Di and Jen). Reports of good but not excellent clarity.

Surfs up today. A southerly swell but it’s wrapped around North Head today & peeling into the beach. Clean, long waves. Rob our resident surf lifesaver (pictured) was patrolling on his board out back, showing the young grommets how to rip a wave on a board twice his size. Western Australian, so a reputable, reliable, humorous, and dashingly handsome (as many of us Sandgropers are!), he told the story of being immune to the cold. When the next Ice Age comes he proclaimed that he will still be here rocking it out with Keith Richards and the cockroaches.

Once the residents of the now homeless shelter, the body surfing gang were all smiles today. The occupy the vacant bench each morning opposite the pink cafe.

I mingled with royalty today. Julie Isbill, founder and legend of the BnB, also a Western Australian now! JK and Ian (and me). She’s leaving the beach to head home at 8am, enough for a quick swim for old times sake.

Man this dude can play a geeetaaaar… the Fonz. We fled the surfer packed front view and paddled to the Corso. A great time was had by many. Well Fonz, Snoopy and me. I’ve still got sand where sand shouldn’t go to prove.

There is a rockstar in town! Who parks this close? Ali Kruger, coffee thief, awesome backstroker and rockstar parker!

The gang.. Team B into the waves (Brett, Trish and Ali and me)

serial pest Andre 🙂 awesome for a German…. tried to dack me each day, I gave him a nipple twist for good measure today.. all good fun until he splashes me in 16 degree water.

Lover of wearing naughty girls lingerie.. the Guv.. often seen naked on a skateboard down Manly Dam.

Jon dawdles but still beats most of the Drinks Express. Fast cars, racehorses, with an actuarial mind. Legend.

Thanks for the swim and coffee Team. Remember don’t let your true love run cold!

PS as my Dad always says, the car doesn’t run without petrol. Fuel up and look after yourselves!
