Today’s turnout: 83 swimmers + 1 Newbie
White out. The fog rolled in early this morning and it sure made for an interesting swim. As we set off from the point it looked like a mini cole classic. all you could see against the white fog was the assemblage of people in pink.
Unable to ‘sight’ most people followed the swimmer infront of them, this led to a few criss crossing swimmers and a few people heading off to the bower. Eventually everyone made it to Shelly and back safe and sound. One or 2 were so off course they may have qualified for the round the head swim if someone hadnt stopped them!
According to the swell forecast we are looking good for tomorrow and it should pick up again on Monday morning. That means Sunday IS A GOOD DAY TO SWIM.

Fact of the day: contrary to popular belief…. Swimming in the cold water without a wetsuit DOES NOT help a hangover. A double bacon and egg however helps lots.

Criss crossing.. guilty as charged, and due to the fog I was criss crossing more than usual. Apologies to everyone I swam into/in front of/on top of.
My previous suggestion of Manly Council painting a black line on the sea floor from Manly to Shelly Beach today saw an idea upgrade: fluorescent bulbs in a straight line will prevent loss of swimmers in the fog. Not just a pretty face, eh?

Very eery but great swim this morning. Went on a little detour towards the bower, so thank you to the dude in his pink swimmers that swam diagonally in front of me and put me back on track.
Nice to be swimming back into Manly beach again.

Gaetan and myself enjoyed a quick dip under the roman aqueduct yesterday.
Must say that whilst Manly is one of the most beautiful places in the world, that Gaetan’s home town is as well!

the temp was 17.4.. but Tim was hungover!
