Hi Jules,
Thanks for a great swim this morning, the Bold & Beautiful swimmers live in a fantastic part of our fragile World. I was pleased to find out yesterday whilst walking local tracks that Shelly Beach is a protected Marine-Park area; well done to all concerned…Sometime today my kidneys will thaw out and i will be right for my next swim Friday morning before returning to the Sunshine Coast where our Mooloolaba swim club battles 17.5degree (ie.lowest!) water temperature all year round normally early twenties!!
Thanks to all for their generous support and hospitality… It’s been fun.

PS: Will be nagging our Team to set up a great forum for discussion & photo exchange such as this one ~ well done!
Good luck with Rotary presentation on Monday. Don’t forget to visit us whenever you may be in town.

TO the B&B Swimmers,
Love the website!
I warned Gary Lynch the Bold & Beautiful Swimmers are heroically brave Souls who swim in Icelandic conditions whilst less adventurous locals cowardly hide under the Doona and admittedly miss the best part of the day.
The B&B are much admired in this Community and a popular topic of discussion amongst us less adventurous locals.
Thanks Nathan for the introduction – and when Spring has Sprung I may take the plunge too.
What does one have to accomplish to achieve a Winter Badge – I would think turning up and getting wet would be sufficient?
Cheers –

The winter badge is a prized and well earned achievement not to be taken lightly in 16 degree water temps!
The winter badge has given me great bragging rights in my household and the power to boost!
(Jules did mention that I got my winter badge?) ;-))

Congratulations Linda, certainly NOT taken lightly!! I believe you are athletic Heroes and I am a total WIMP + my Friend visiting from Qld has impressed me with his dedicated persistance of persuing daily Ocean Swims ……. I thought he was brave in Mooloolaba in June – so this effort (August in Sydney) is very impressive.
If I start training seriously now (in a warm pond?)- I might be able to attempt the swim when the ice breaks in Spring?
Cheers
Congrats again on your admirable achievement/s. You are certainly entitled to the Bragging Rights
Also, Thanks to everyone for showing such warm hospitality to Gary Lynch (visiting; Past President of Alexandra Headland Rotary Club) – he is totally wrapped in the local SwimClub and raving about it to ALL. Gary is attending Manly Sunrise Rotary Club tomorrow so expect more members in your club soon.
We really DO live in Paradise!

well what a pleasant surprise to see so many comments on the site today!! It certainly was a lovely swim and what a pity we didn’t realise the whales were only 50m away. We could have easily swum over to them. Well even though this afternoon it is pretty grotty with wind and chop, according to Magic Seaweed it is only going to be a swell of 0.2m tomorrow. That is about the same level of swell in the average bathtub. So again ‘make hay while the sun shines’, these days are just wonderful, grab them while you can.

Hee hee thanks Michelle, although I have to admit that I am not as brave as those who swim without wetsuits…they deserve a winters badge with honours!!!

Great to see all the comments today – love it 🙂
Gary, it’s been our pleasure, you’re welcome anytime. Likewise please tell all your fellow swimmers in sunny Qld they are most welcome to swim with us when they visit beautiful Manly…
Michelle, we look forward to you joining us soon. The high achieving B&B swimmers who qualify for their badge ‘this year’ have to swim 20 times over a minimum of 7 different weeks of winter. Linda has indeed qualified and is rightfully proud of her achievement, especially as she has only been swimming with us for just over 7 weeks…. To join in winter let alone qualify for your badge is pretty damn impressive I reckon! I must say though I am suprised Linda mentioned it to you as she has been sooo quiet and shy about it …. [cough cough] 🙂 🙂 🙂
Looking forward to bath tub swells tomorrow – love it 🙂
See ya all in the morning…
