Over 69 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
A beautiful morning with a nice little wave, warm water and tones of fish.
Welcome to our 5 first timers this morning 🙂
Only two Saturdays left to qualify for your 6km summer badge… Tomorrow there will be a 6km and a 10km summer badge swim. If your planning on doing the 10km swim please bring some drink and nibbles down to the start at 7am and Kelly and Jan have kindly offered to meet you at South Curl Curl for the Teddy Bear’s picnic. If there are waves Kelly and Jan will swim out to you so you don’t have to swim in – how nice is that 🙂
Please continue on the comment thread below if your keen to participate in the South Head Adventure swim; Bondi to Camp Cove, either by swimming, paddling, in a boat, with a boat or via land. Planned date is Sat 26th March.
Water Temperature 24.1 degrees.
Sunrise 6.33am.
Sunset 7.45pm.

For those that don’t no the inside joke about the blue towel…. ever since I was a tiny little ocean swimmer, my dad would wave a blue towel off the headlands or off the beach so that I could find him. Dad is now known for this within the B&B 10km swim group. At first people just thought he was a old crazy man, waving a blue towel off freshwater headland but I now believe we all look out for him and no that he is watching from a far!! AND i am sure dad will be waving a blue towel next saturday when I complete rotto, to my horror!

What would we do without your dad?? “We see him here, we see him there, we see him everywhere”. He is truly the Scarlet Pimpernel of ocean swimming!!

The Blue Pimpernel?
I will do the 6k tomorrow, if only to try my newly purchased wool fat. I’m told it’s a wonderful experience.
Assuming I’m still interested in swimming after Rotto (!) I’m keen to have another go at South Head on 26 March. Also, one adventure swim I never quite got to do is the Bridge to Manly. maybe B&B could add that to their to do list?

Indeed, I find myself actively looking for your Dad and the blue towel on all of our longer swims now and I noticeable miss him on the very rare occasion that he is not there.

South Head is looking like a popular choice so far the swimmers who have said ‘there in’ are:
Kelly Johnson, Jan Beacham, Peter Bowes, Ben Hutt, Roberto Suares, Richard Agius, Richard Murray, Brendan Maher, Dunstan Bertschinger, Michael Christie and myself 🙂
I’m sure they’ll be more…
Christine, remember you ‘have to’ swim this one. I’m sure Collie and Iain won’t miss it. Nick, Bruce ???? Who else ???
Any paddlers, land contingent and boat people keen ???

Hi Ben, wool fat is the stuff they put on in channel swims to keep you warm. in parctice, its’the stuff that gets over anything and everything it touches. Rotto forecast is for easterlies. Fingers crossed, it would be great to have an offshore wind!
