Good morning folks on this beautiful warm and sunny September Wednesday! Around 130 pink capped swimmers plunged in to Cabbage Tree Bay and swam across our favourite corner of the world. I caught the sunrise at Freshwater today on the way back from my pre-swim run with another awesome group of people ( Manly Beach Running Club).
The Drinks Express head in at 6.30am. What a change from yesterday, calm, clear with no waves. I love the unpredictability of the ocean and our swims. Each morning is different and brings new incredible moments!
Booty Camp on the beach with the lovely Jen. All totally free, how lucky are we!
The 7amers were a bit shocked to find the water temp had dropped from 19.5 degrees to 17.5 today but there were lots who had ditched the wetsuit.
I was very happy visibility was good again. This Groper had a sea urchin in it’s mouth!
Kath, Nick, Jane, Ian, Gayle and Karen joined in for a bit of underwater blog tarting!
Swimming close to the rocks, Fiona called me over to see this Eagle Ray on the ocean floor. (There’s a photo of him flying underwater later in the blog.)
Happy shots at Shelly. Natalia from Buenos Aires told me it was her birthday today but unfortunately she was a bit shy to tell us in time to sing ‘Happy Birthday’. Please let us know if it’s your birthday we love celebrating everyone!
It’s not Lips’ birthday but he acts as if it is as usual! We love you Lips and JK 🙂
More underwater shenanigans over the rocks with the Diamondfish…
(Blog I loaded earlier of some awesome sights I have seen since my last blog…)
Guess who the gorgeous mermaid is diving over the green seagrass at the weekend?
Cute Puffer Fish
Jen showing us how clear the water was on Friday…
This Eagle Ray was at The Point on Saturday
When you dive down to the Goatfish you see their beautiful colours!
Below should be the link to a very short video I recorded of a brilliant Blue Groper having a peek at a PJ shark resting on a rock ledge. Hope it works!
The water was remarkably clear last week and there were lots of PJ sightings. Here are 2 of my fave photos.
This is the Blind Shark that lives not far off the shore in amongst the rocks and green grass.
Our very own Ian Forster at the weekend when he joined Kerry, Jen and I on a 9am snorkelling tour!
This funny looking fella with button like yellow eyes and fins is a Yellow Button-eyed Leatherjacket. (Not his correct name but sounds better than the one Jane told me 😉
This little puffer fish or Porcupine fish was SO cute!
These guys weren’t so cute. (Except for Lucy of course!)
Crimson Banded Wrasse
That’s a Port Jackson hiding behind the Groper!
You can see it better here!
Simon and friends.
The poor Port Jackson shark found dead on the beach on Sunday. She died giving birth. She suffered prolapse. (Where is Dr Ray when we need him ;-))
This is Jane showing us his little teeth.
Last photo of the day, gorgeous little Millie Edwards. Some babies have their ‘Blankey’ and some have their pink cap. Only 7 months and trying to stand up and get down that ramp to swim with us!
Stats: swimmers 130 , newbies 3 , water temp 17.5
