28 Bold & Beautiful Swimmers took on the challenge. Thankfully four of us took boards to scout ahead where we found a wall of fist sized blueys just past half way. Tim is very proud of himself as he is currently training for his Bronze but has “started saving lives already”… He did complete his first rescue this morning, Tony can vouch for that, and a few cups of coffee help the story too 🙂
Katie from Australian Men’s Fitness Magazine came to interview us this morning for an article on open water swimming, we were only just saying what wonderful marine life experiences we have been lucky enough to encounter some mornings, but it had been a little light on this winter. Then just after Katie left a family of whales and dolphins swam into Manly – just beautiful to see them in the same frame. Hopefully tomorrow they’ll be an hour and a half earlier 🙂
Water Temperature 18.7 degrees.
Sunrise 6.25am.
Sunset 7.02pm.
High Tide: 8.22am.
Low Tide: 2.32pm.

That was great to see the whales this morning. At least three and seemed to be humpbacks with the single ‘blow’. they were right in near the point, if we had been swimming we would have hit them. Then to top it off a pod of dolphins came in even closer amongst the board riders. As well as all this the water temperature is nearly 19c. Fabulous.

It was awesome to see the whales, I saw them from Shelly Beach headland and yeah I think there were 3 of them. Didn’t see the dolphins though. I bet there will be heaps of Bold & Beautiful swimmers tomorrow hoping for a Mr Whale visit!!!
Come on Mr Whale grace us with your presence…pleaseeeeeee
