07/10/17 – Keep it Simple

October 7, 20178

It was another beautiful morning in Manly, the water temp was 18.60C with very little swell, close to perfect conditions.

I’ve chosen today’s theme, Keep It Simple, because I’ve noticed that when this approach is adopted things just flow nice and easy.

This approach is consistent with the quote from Shakespeare included in Peter Anthony’s blog on Thursday, 5 October 2017, Rolling with Resistance…’for there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.’

Keep It Simple, step onestart the day with a beautiful early morning ocean swim surrounded by lovely positive people who make you laugh with their funny stories and jokes.

Step twoenjoy some quality family time and try new activities.

Robbie did his first ever B&B swim this morning, he is 11 years old and from an area not far from Newcastle, England.

The Howard Family.

Step threespend some quality time with your significant other.

Sharnie and Nick.

Roxanne and Alex

Step fourcelebrate your achievements.

Check our Rainer’s badges!

Izzy has her name embroidered on her B&B hoodie, what a fantastic idea. Everyone needs a personalised B&B hoodie!

Step fivedrink coffee with good friends and have a competition, who has the funniest story or best joke 🙂

I think I accidentally interupted Michael mid-joke 🙂

Bruce is usually on fire with some of the funniest jokes/ stories around. I think Attracta is laughing at one of Bruce’s jokes 🙂

Whilst we all compete, it is pretty hard to beat some of David’s jokes, they’re crazy funny 🙂

Step sixenjoy a great game of beach cricket.

I cannot tell you how much fun it was to play beach cricket, it’s been too long between games.

The Stats:

  • 320 swimmers
  • 12 newbies
  • water temp 18.6oC

Hope you all have a great day and don’t forget to register for the B&B dinner on Tuesday night, our very own John Byran will be presenting.

Help Nat help kids with SanFillippo Syndrome

I am participating in ENDURE 24 from 6-7 October which is to support the Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation which supports research for treatment and a cure for those suffering from SanFillippo Syndrome.

Sanfilippo Syndrome is a rare genetic disease which affects the central nervous system of children. I know a family from the Northern Beaches whose children both have Sanfilippo Syndrome. They are beautiful children and to think they may not reach adulthood breaks my heart. ENDURE 24 entails a CrossFit workout on the hour for 24 hours at CrossFit Manly Vale. If you would like to donate to this worthy cause the links are below.Thank you, Nat

Help the kids at Royal Far West

Royal Far West would love to hear from any Bold & Beautiful members who are keen to help run a surf/sail/kayak or paddleboard program for our seniors during the summer months. These are children from the country who are at RFW for the week to receive medical help, speech pathology, OT, and more. We have foster kids, kids who come with their families or from remote areas where there is simply no assistance available. A working with children check and surf lifesaving qualification required. To register your interest or enquire please call Linda Scott on 86226838 or email lindas@royalfarwest.org.au. Other non water based volunteer opportunities are also available.

Thanks Megan, and what very good advice, the KISS principle. Unfortunately one I often struggle with…complications always seem to arise. Swimming, at least, is usually simple and effortless. Float, breathe, keep putting one arm over the other, rinse, repeat.
