04/04/2011 – The Perfect Swim

April 4, 20117

Over 67 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

The perfect swim; flat, warm and sooooo many fish. Today had serious WOW Factor !!!!

There where garfish, massive schools of yellowtail, stingrays, dusky whalers, luderick, batfish, groupers to name just a few. Then there were a couple of new beautiful fish: they were purple, about an inch high and long, very thin and with beautiful long purple tentacles (like jimbles’ tentacles) flowing behind them. Jane where are you when we need you… Any idea what they are ???

What’s going on in the B&B, it’s all happening:

Simon Ingram got engaged on Saturday, congratulations 🙂

Anthony and Michelle Yeates are expecting their first baby, due on 30th November which means Anne Lemon will be a Grandma !!!! Congratulations 🙂

Mum sent through a lovely photo of her and Dad so I couldn’t resist including it in the blog :-). Keep up the great recovery Dad, can’t wait to see you in August xox

Water Temperature 23.1 degrees.
Sunrise 6.09am.

What a great swim! Warm water [23.2c], flat and clear. I even saw a small whaler shark this morning. Usually everyone else sees 20 or so and I don’t see any. I must have been in the right spot today!
These conditions are going to last I think. The offshore temp is staying aroung 22-23c and the swell is completely from the South for at least the next week! So “make hay while the sun shines.”

BTW Roberto and Len are doing swims to Queenscliff early on some days. I’m not sure which. How about blogging it the night before guys??? That way anyone else interested would know when to turn up and have company.

Hi Jules – Ive asked Mark at the OzMus what the beautiful new fish might have been. I have some ideas but he’s the expert. I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks heaps Jane and Mark, they were indeed Juvenile Pennantfish. I have just put a comment on the page on the Australian Museum website. How exciting 🙂
Also, whilst we are talking about exciting, the ladies one piece hot pink swimming costumes have just arrived and they look terrific 🙂
