Over 79 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
Another stunning day in paradise; beautiful water and beautiful company 🙂
Now I have an apology to make, Neil told me the sting rays are feeling left out! There are always lots of stingrays but I forget to mention them, how very remiss of me !!
So today there were LOTS OF BEAUTIFUL STING RAYS, 10 dusky whaler sharks, 2 fiddler rays, 2 flatheads, 2 flute-mouth, 1 numbfish, lots of bat fish (aka pomfret). We’re very lucky having Jane Stevenson swim with us, our resident vet and fish namer from the Australia museum! Jane has also offered to put her veterinary skills to use by microchipping all of us to make the attendance recording easier… 🙂
Water Temperature 23.3 degrees.
Sunrise 6.45am.
Sunset 7.29pm.
High Tide: 8.59am.
Low Tide: 3.21pm.

I think what I saw was a wobbegong…not a fiddler ray – Just checked out photos of both..and it definitely looks like a wobbegong! Which is great! Thanks for lovely swim!

Further to my last blog.
I mentioned the summer badge ceremony which will be happening on Saturday or Sunday next week (not this weekend).
I would like to propose a ‘Star Wars’ theme to the badge ceremony in the style of the award ceremony they had for Luke, Han and Chewy after they blew up the first Death Star(we can do the one with the Ewoks after they blew up the second death star another time). As you would all undoubtable remember everyone who was part of the rebel alliance was wearing orange flight helmets for which we could substitute our stunning pink caps (I would also like to note that no parallels should be drawn between ourselves representing the rebel alliance and any other party been named as the evil empire and further to this comparisons of some people to Darth Vader or worse yet the ugly evil emperor dude himself).Bath robes would also be very similar to the Jedi outfits so would also be a nice fit. Light sabers optional but highly recommended.
We do need people to also represent certain characters from the movie including someone to do the princess hair style thing.
I would like to help this process along by making the first two nominations of people in the B & B to represent two of the legendary star wars characters.
Firstly: Bruce – Obi One Kenobi – Obvious reason as Bruce is the oldest wisest one of our group and the force moves so strongly through his veins that he still completes the swim nearly every day and also did the 9km soft sand classic.
Secondly: Bruce Baird – Chewbacca – Notable chewy as we affectionately call him, was of similar height and stature to Bruce’s 6 foot 4. Further to this in the prequel movies (attack of the clones), we discover that Chewy was once a leader of the wookies similar to Bruce and his former position as one of our political leaders.
Please feel free to nominate yourself or others for the character to be represented from Star Wars and lets keep it fun and friendly.

I love the sting rays, especially when they’re nestled in their sandy beds. So clear this morning, another great start to the day.

Ian you are a genius. Great plan, I love it!
How about life savers’ light sabers? And with daylight saving ending soon, we might indeed also need some light savers?
May the farce be with you.

Hi Lesley – great to see a wobbegong. I missed out on that AND the fiddler rays. Trouble is, I’m so far behind the mob that you’ve scared the fishes away by the time I get there..

Jan,
Why the competition for Princess Leia, when we could have a bunch of princess Leia’s.
Jules,
Star Wars and Star Trek are two very different things. The primary difference you need to understand is that Star Wars is like a gazillion times better.

Uhmmmm, Im thinking it would be more prudent to say that was a typo, however it just proves I know nothing about it, actually either of them… 🙁

Not to worry Jules think of the badge ceremony akin to an educational awakening in Star Wars

Oh dear I am with Jules on this one…have seen neither of the two films and NO idea what you are all on about.

Sharks can be imperial tai fighters.
Large sharks can be imperial star destroyers.
If we see a whale it can be the death star.
Remember as Jules says we need to be as inclusive as we can.
Oh and Nicks boat (when he gets it) can be the millennium falcon
