02/07/2011 – Making Hay…

July 2, 20117

92 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

Lovely conditions again today, beautiful blue skies with the sun shining through the surface of the lovely clear water making it absolutely magnificent !

Lots of stingarees, red morwongs, leather jackets, yellowtail scad, kingfish, huge bright blue groupers and a 3 barred porcupine fish 🙂

Over 20 swimmers, mostly no wetsuit swimmers I might add 😉 did a second lap to Shelly this morning. Apparently there is
interest in a second lap again tomorrow if you’re keen ? Make hay while the sunshines, it’s well worth it, it’s just gorgeous out there right now.

Fantastic photos this morning, once again courtesy of James Goins, thank you James !

It was nice to have Mr Ocean Swims join us with his partner Suanne Hunt for both laps this morning.

Welcome to all our new swimmers too, it’s good to see
we are still getting plenty of new swimmers joining us mid winter, still in plenty of time to qualify for your winter badge… :-).  Check out how you and all your friends are tracking on the winter badge tally by clicking on the badge on the left of the blog. There are currently 278 people of track for their 2011 B&B winter badge, keep it up guys ! As of Monday there are only 9 weeks of winter left, its still not too late to start for your badge you know… 🙂

Check out the photo of Ricky Facer and Robin Turner toughing it out in their pink cossies :-). Although it’s fair to say Robin won this morning as he completed the second lap, Ricky… !! 🙂

Welcome back to Jon and little Sarah Abbott ! They had the jet lag excuse this morning, but tomorrow they will be swimming with us 🙂

Gotta love Pocket Rath’s birthday present, in the photo opposite, a Bold & Beautiful
jacket – how cute is that ! Pocket and Poppie are really part of the team now.  Can’t wait to see them out walking together 🙂

How’s the photo below of Alison Christie’s sting on her stomach (next to a sachet of sugar to give you an indication of size) from the little blighter that made its way down her cossie last Sunday! There are others too but they weren’t available for the camera. Now that’s what I call ‘ouch
factor’ !

Bob Peterson, one of our swimmers, gets a mention in the cover story of the Good Weekend (Sydney Morning Herald) today 🙂

Speaking of ‘making hay’ a few of us did an afternoon swim today. It ended up with five people doing some extra laps and about another five snorkelling.
Swimming in to Shelly I saw a small TURTLE travelling across underneath me. Amazing really. Last week there was a large LION FISH off Fairy Bower. It must be the warm current bringing a lot of tropical marine life down here.

Oh – I missed all of you! I snorkelled Manly-Shelly from 12.30-1.30 and spent ages swimming with the big cuttlefish. He came up to have a look at me, then stayed just below me for a long time, flashing beautiful purple spots all round the edges of his fins. What big eyes he has!

Lovely to be back at this beautiful spot and in such lovely company!
See you all at 7 a.m. (promses, promises…)!
Alison’s sting scars are an excellent excuse to wear a wet-suit too! Alison, you’re very stoic! Hope you get the special B&B War Badge:-)
