76 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
Another magical swim in the warm clear waters of paradise. It’s simply the best.
We were joined by our regular companions including a massive school of yellowtail, catfish, kingfish, an eagle ray, flatheads, fiddler rays, stingarees and our ever growing dusky’s
8 swimmers enjoyed an early lap into Shelly, a few others ventured North and 3 continued on afterwards for a double.
Come down, enjoy and make the most of the superb conditions, you won’t regret it !! I’ll even put in a request for the dolphins to pay us a visit just to complete the deal 🙂
Someone accidentally went home with the incorrect top from the men’s changing room this morning. If you find you have a long sleeved white t-shirt from Head of the Charles Regatta please could you let us know as it has sentimental value to the owner, thank you.
A lovely photo of us all entering the water this morning taken by Gaetan:
Water Temperature 22.6
Air Temperature 18.0
Sunrise 6.08am
Sunset 5.49pm
Low Tide: 11.49am
High Tide: 6.00pm

Amanda from the OzMus has identified our Duskies from Gaetan’s photos of dusky whalers as Carcharhinus obscurus, the Black Whaler. Adults are up to 3.6m long and classified as dangerous(!), though our babies are obviously not so , except maybe to tiny fish. Adults give birth to litters of about 15 pups about 70cm long, so ours are pretty young.
Both Mark and Amanda thought the pics and video were fabulous, and Mark particularly loved what he called the “dusky flathead” shot!

My guess is they are only dangerous to French men swimming after them with a camera! ;-P I don’t think they have interest in us whatsoever as potential food!!

Ok Anne, I’ll turn up. Should still be brilliant conditions and its a shame not to take advantage of them.

Hi Team, for those who are keen there is a Freshy planned for Friday 6am. All welcome weather dependant we are hoping to do Freshy and back then Shelley and back. Also for anyone interested we are having a massive Saturday to support Ben. Plan is QC at 6am, back to main group at 7am staying with Ben the whole way. The Shelley swim will be the whole 9 yards by swimming close to the shore for a full 1.5km there and back. From there hopefully Freshy etc etc. Plan to do 12km+ but with intervals for those who wish to join for some or all. I would like to have a peleton and have everyone stick together to support Ben’s training. My mobile is 0414373016. SMS me if you are in.
