16/07/2012 – Magnificent Monday Millpond at Manly

16/07/20126

94 Bold & Beautiful swimmers !  That’s a lot for a Monday 🙂

Enjoyed yet another beautiful morning swim, and what’s even better is… it’s forecast to be this way for the whole week !! 🙂

The sea is perfectly calm with full sun !  Not a cloud in the sky.  Magnificent 🙂

Everyone had such a lovely glow about them this morning

Even Lesley managed a sensible photo !! 😉

Despite the extremely calm conditions there must have been a strong current at the point… as everyone was drifting half way across to Shelly… 😉  Please try to gather “at the point”, the first telegraph pole right on the point, before we start so it makes it a pleasant inclusive swim together for everyone, thank you 🙂

Not so inclusive that we swim over the top of people though… 😉

It was noticeably warmer across the bay and at Shelly than in close to shore which was a pleasant bonus.

With the sun bursting through the whole way.

Everyone was pretty damn happy to have been part of the swim this morning !

Sadly for us it’s Brent’s last swim today, thankfully his badge qualifying swim too, as he is returning to San Francisco after 3 months with us.  We’ll miss you Brent, please stay in touch and send us regular on tour photos.

A couple of swimmers enjoyed their swim up the beach to Queensie and back and James L and Michael covered the same distance with a double lap of Shelly, both without wetsuits.

Andy was going to do the double lap too but decided to kiss a jimble instead…  🙁

11 swimmers qualified for their winter badge today, taking the new total to 45 so far !  With another 300 on target and another 157 who need to swim soon to make sure they don’t miss out… to check out which category you’re in click here

If you missed Francois’ video of the Cuttlefish, taken last weekend, you really should watch it… by clicking here

Plus another brilliant video of Gaetan’s, taken on Saturday, which includes the octopus here

We nearly have enough people booked in for our next monthly special B&B dinner at Bluewater on Monday 30th July, to have the whole restaurant to ourselves again !! 🙂  It was a fantastic night last month with superb food so don’t miss out… book in now by clicking here

Dinner is $20 each including shared entrees, a selection of mains to choose (incl vegetarian option), corkage (for byo wine only) plus a little thank you from each of us to the staff !  All beers (including 4 pines) and desserts only $5.

Happy birthday to Nannette Crawford today 🙂

Murray from Sprout Daily was down taking photos again this morning… to check them out click here

Andy – Women pay a lot of money for lips like that! 😉
I just found some interesting research on Jimbles! They actually swim…we sort of knew that but did we know THEY HAVE EYES?! Also each stinging cell harpoons venom into prey (us)! I was fascinated because sometimes the sting looks like a line and other times it’s like a rash…so I was wondering if there is something else out there other than jimbles??!!!
ps. Those cuttlefish will be getting big heads with all that attention over the past week!!

Great news – I sent Francois’s cuttlefish video to Mandy Reid at the Australian Museum Marine Invertebrates collection and she wants to put it on their website! Wow – and Gaetan has photos on their Fish website – aren’t we proud of our fabulous photographers!
