106 Bold & Beautiful swimmers
looking good as they walk down the ramp ready to take on whatever surprises our aquatic haven has in store for us this morning…

some choosing slightly different poses… nice shoulders Andy 😉

Dylan trying out winter without wetsuit in preparation for joining his wife, Jan and their two children in Wales this weekend where Jan has already been for the last two weeks, starting up a B&B contingent without wetsuit in the Irish Sea !! Don’t worry, they are coming back in another couple of weeks, but can’t wait for the photos of you all there next week, great job Jan 🙂

Gotta love that exhilarating feeling we get every morning when we first get in, sure makes you know you’re alive 🙂

Welcome back to our honeymooners, Lindsay and Richard 🙂

Hey, guess what… even the PJ’s have even learnt to wait at the point with us now 🙂

It seems that Robin was trying to lead the way with some new moves at Shelly

The whiting were curious… 😉

But it was all smiles and a call for peace, or maybe it was a double lap, above the water

How many fish can you spot in this shot below ? I can see 7; a whiting, 3 leatherjacket, a goatfish and 2 other I don’t know whats, all about 15metres off Shelly Beach.

These little guys always sit so patiently on the rocks and never get a look in, until today that is…
They’re called Rock Cale’s but are also fondly known as Cockatoo Fish, Cocky, Joey, Rock Cocky or Sea Carp

True to form, there was a surprise this morning, but this time it was as we got out of the water. Jesse was cruising the Northern Beaches looking for people to interview for an upcoming casting. Need he look any further than B&B… we have to live up to our motto of ‘Manly’s most popular daily drama’ after all 😉

He didn’t get away that easily though, as of course we talked him to swimming with us too, we hope 🙂
Mahdi’s pretty excited… that’s winter swim number 17 !!! Only 3 more to go in the next 2 weeks to qualify for that all important winter badge 🙂
134 swimmers have currently qualified so far ! With another 64 on target and another 76 who need to swim soon to make sure they don’t miss out… to check out how you’re going towards yours please click here

~8 swimmers enjoyed an early lap into Shelly, ~4 ventured up to Queensie and 3 continued on for a double of Shelly.
Ben enjoyed a relaxing swim before his last big 10 hour training session in the harbour tomorrow. Then it’s time to start the tapper before he takes on the English Channel SOLO !!! As is Collie too 🙂

It seems that twinkle toes arrived a little late for Lesley’s fashion blog last Wednesday…

Meanwhile, busy on tour… getting ready for the Maui Channel, Simon Cowell has taken B&B for a swim in the Gellert Thermal baths & Szechenyi baths in Budapest, Hungary

As well as a 2km swim the day before in Lake Bled, Slovenia, home of World rowing championships, about 11/2 hrs from Ljubljana.
Simon swam around fairy tale Bled Island with its 15th Century church where it is good luck for the groom to carry his bride Up the 99 steps !!

Safe travels to Jane who sets off today for a lovely holiday around Ireland 🙂
and Sam Evans and Brendon Quinn, along with 2 other work colleagues who head off tomorrow to start their 80km walk on the Larapinta Trail to raise money for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation.
Please feel free visit their fundraising site and wish them luck by donating and leaving them a message if you would like, every dollar is greatly appreciated by this great cause.
See the rest of you tomorrow morning at 7am for the next episode and another great swim 🙂

Simon, your photo of Szechenyi baths in Budapest brought back wonderful memories of the trip Vicki and I did last year…my most favourite swimming baths anywhere – we used it to do some training (not much!) for the Dardanelles swim. Maui channel sounds pretty good too. Enjoy!

I am pretty sure that fish (the one always sitting on the rocks) is a Sergeant Baker and not a Rock Cale. One can find Rock Cales around as well (especially around Fairy Bower), but they are smaller, black, and without that elongated dorsal fin.

Please note that male Sergeant Bakers are black as well, but much larger and with a very elongated dorsal fin (compared to Rock Cales).

…and pics of Lake Bled brought back teenage memories…..
In the Hong Kong press today:
“Seychelles and Germany have the healthiest seas of any inhabited territory, while Sierra Leone has the unhealthiest, a new index said. Topping the list with a score of 86 out of 100 was the uninhabited South Pacific territory of Jarvis Island, owned by the US, as well as a clutch of other unpopulated Pacific Ocean islands….
“The index is devised by researchers in the US and Canada who have measured whether the world’s oceans are able to provide food and recreation, while also sustaining sea life.”
Hmmm, no mention of Manly…… must be biased!

By the way, if anybody is keen on going snorkelling any time please let me know. I go quite often and would be pleased to show you around at a slower pace than our morning swims 😉

Ok,
Look like tomorrow will be having 15knot NW winds tending westerly throughout the day.
As it will be a full moon we have decided upon a little lunacy and that a nice little swim from Palmy to Manly will be attempted.
Keep an eye on the blog and pray the wind gods are kind.
Regards,
The B&B Frosty Nuts

Hi, Someone went home with my goggles and caps (B&B cap and pink Whale Beach Big Swim silicon cap) today. They were on the wooden bench outside the Surf Club. Has anyone found them?
