29/09/2012 – Very Welcome Reptile

29/09/201218

100 Bold & Beautiful swimmers

A warm and humid morning made jumping into the ocean a welcome refreshment

Everyone happy to be amongst the splash

Still a little bit of chop but much calmer than yesterday’s adventure swim

With the bonus of A TURTLE who gracefully swam under Gab on the way back.  Thankfully Gab called out nice and loud so a few of us got to share a beautiful swim this magnificent reptile.  Imagine swimming with a turtle on your first swim with us.  Well Cass (looking remarkably happy in the photo below) did !!  I’m sure she’ll be back 🙂  Hope the turtle is too, he seemed to enjoy the company.

6 swimmers well and truly earned their breakfast and enjoyed a double lap.  It sure was a fantastic swim this morning.  Yeh, it’s a long weekend too !!  Enjoy the jazz festival and see you all in the morning 🙂

The fledgling B&B bike group made its debut yesterday with a ride to West Head from Mona Vale with a team of 6: Ted & Elaine, Wilf, Judy (who kept up to the pace despite her mountain bike having a soft rear tyre), John M and John H.  The air temperature reached 34C and the cold beers downed at Church Point on the return were a welcome antidote !

They may do another ride next Friday if there’s any interest ???

Due to the most amazing response to our B&B Fundraising Trivia night The Steyne Hotel have very generously agreed to push themselves to the absolute max and give us 5 extra tables, which we filled immediately from the wait-list !!  So… there’s gonna be 250 of us, all dressed up ready to have a fantastic fun filled night together with lots of really great prizes, all generously donated, up for grabs.

To see who’s coming and to check your table please download the table list from the website here

If you want fish instead of steak please let me know ASAP.  The list of prizes will be added to the website this weekend, so keep watching…

Vanessa L thinks she may have left her light pink snorkel & mask in the public ladies changing room on Wednesday after the swim.  If anyone found them please let us know, thank you.

Water Temperature 17.2
Air Temperature 18.0
Sunrise 5.35am
Sunset 5.56pm
High Tide: 7.30am

It was a lovely surprise seeing that turtle on the way back when energy was flagging.I found it tougher than yesterday for some reason (probably the achiness after bike ride.)So well done to all newbies who didn’t get the best conditions to do their first swim. Remember there’s always a bit of a bit of magic when you do a B&B swim…the ocean itself, the swimming, the camaraderie or beautiful marine (and human) creatures you get the chance to meet 😉 😉
Jules didn’t mention that she did a 16 km run in that heat yesterday as prep for her Marathon coming up. She is tapering now after doing 36 kms last weekend. So well done Jules!

Ps. Is it normal for a turtle to have all that seaweed stuck to it?? 🙁

Fish, not steak, for me please Jules – I’m on Lesley’s table. I’ll be back from LA on Oct.10th. Really missing the swimming but having a lovely time cuddling babies.

Great pic of the turtle, wish I could have seen it. Also nice one of the bike group with Barrenjoey Headland in the background.
Pink should definitely have a swim with us while staying on the peninsula and even get a souvenir pink cap.

The ad is awesome Jules! Can I put an order in for fish for Jen (Lyon) and I please.
We’ve ridden to West Head and I know exactly where you stopped for cold beers, don’t they taste amazing when you’ve cycled about 60k?! I’d be interesed in a ride at the weekend…

Thanks for noticing how good we are looking John :-).
Btw what on earth would make you think that’s my motivation for running ;-). I thought I was keeping that well hidden!
