19/10/2012 – Weddings, Whales, Beauty & PRIZES !

19/10/20128

133 Bold & Beautiful swimmers

enjoy the 7am peak hour at Manly Beach.  There’s such a great vibe around the place at 7 o’clock in the mornings, with everyone enjoying their morning activity to set them off on a good start for the day.

Robin’s happy to be enjoying his first swim post marathon, he wasn’t complaining about all the man hugs he received

and he wasn’t to shy about showing off how high he can lift his legs either !

Everyone was just happy to be wet, embracing the waves 🙂

Check out our bold and beautiful groom, Dave Anderson with his beautiful bride to be, Zorica Tootell who will be married later today, 3pm at Collins Beach.  It was Dave’s wish that he and some of his friends from his wedding party start their perfect day with a perfect swim with us !  How cool is that 🙂  Congratulations Dave and Zorica, hope you have a wonderful day.

How’s this for beauty at the point ?

Jeff Lange’s very excited to be back after his month in South Korea.

and Matt Murphy’s super happy he’s now officially half way through his HSC and is celebrating the occasion with a swim.  Hope all our HSC students are finding plenty of time for some pleasure and relaxation amongst all their exams.  Good luck guys, we’re thinking of you all.

It was lovely and calm at Shelly, quite the opposite to the turbulent waters at Manly Beach

Today’s bride was dutifully waiting to make sure her husband to be made it every stroke of the way 🙂

It seems Lesley and Robbie got a little confused and thought it was them that were getting married.  Sorry Emer 😉

It’s nearly coffee time, let’s go !

Check out the frothy clouds, pretty hey 🙂

A lovely Big Blue cruising the sand about 100 metres off Shelly

and plenty of foliage around too if anyone likes flower arranging ??

For those swimmers that sensibly chose to swim back to half way beach they were rewarded with a Whale performing a full body breach just off the Bower ! 🙂

I think those of us that swam all the way unfortunately missed the whale, but we had a good swim 🙂

The barefooted double lappers were rightly just a tad proud of themselves when the finished this morning 🙂

Respectfully followed by the regular doublers if not sometimes triplers !

Of course there were lots of our adventurous swimmers out there enjoying the water in the early laps too, but I have no idea how many, in which direction or to which location.  Leave us a little note on the tick sheet and we’ll happily share the news 🙂

A lovely selection of photos from Stephen this morning too

Libby has done some more work on her club house submission.  “Here’s a front view – not too ostentatious, but, iconic eh ?”

Now… on to our all exciting up coming Trivia Night.  It’s only 4 days, 7 hours and 30minutes to go (at time of publishing).

It’s promising to be an absolutely fantastic night, with some seriously sizzling hot prizes up for grabs.  Be it a table prize, a raffle or something you could secure yourself via one of the many silent auctions or the ever popular live action during the night.

For example this Stand Up Paddle Board and paddle with a RRP of $1100 has been very generously donated by Greg Bennett from Bennetts Boards !  It could be yours if you bid for it, it’s gonna be live
auctioned half way through the night 🙂

There’s stunning hand made jewellery, accommodation, wetsuits, wills, dental treatment, plumbing checks, merchandise, cinema tickets, water sports hire, massages, beer, wine, chocolate, pies, you name it we’ve got it.  Seriously, the list is endless !

Check out all the lists of prizes and their very generous donors; all swimmers, sponsors and local supporters on the website here

Get ready and come prepared, it’s gonna be a top night !  I
can’t wait 🙂

Thanks to little sarah for keeping me safe on my first double lap! (and Iain for not letting me wuss out!)

I’m not impressed by those ‘flipperless double lappers’ ONE BIT! Take those wetsuits off and I will be!!! 🙂
Can’t believe how many new people today AND with that big old rip on the way back in – did they all make it back???
I think Rob and I get extra spreddy points for the wedding shot!
ps. Where is Libby’s photo taken?? Very impressive club house – though we may need something bigger!?

Rainer, missed you…. Rob & Ian kindly kept me company for a lovely double (a little practice for Sunday’s). Jon also joined us for the last stretch through the waves.
Rob and I had motivated ourselves by dreaming of the gigantic wave we were going to catch in – instead we both got leg cramp when we went for a baby wave by the shore and were left to hobble in on our last leg. (BUT. as noted in the blog, still in front of the slow regulars:-))
Lesley, remember – tomorrow is single, flipperless, westuitless day with pauses for any panic attacks!
Dave & Zorica, have a lovely day!

I am impressed by you flipperless doublers. Well done!! I bought a wetsuit for speed not warmth and it doesn’t make much difference to me, still slow. Getting my head around a flipperless, wetsuitless double on Sunday though…
