Over 74 Bold & Beautiful swimmers
were full of beans before they even had their wake up swim !
There’s no time for lazy wake-ups with B&B, there’s far too much fun to be had 🙂

There was still a bit of surf and swell, but most got out amongst it this morning.

Making excellent use of the rip to catapult them out to the point.

and enjoying rising above the swell

A few of us still chose the calmer, stress free start to our swim from Half Way Beach

It was a great swim, despite the surface water being slightly cooler – thanks rain 😉

Francois was pretty happy to have seen this season’s dusky ‘flathead’ for himself this morning 🙂

and Stephen was trying to lay low in his smurf suit

A few more chose to swim back to half way, where we had our own little current to play in

Whilst the body surfing clan had fun in the big waves, although they had to wait for the sets to come

Brigitte’s tired of watching from the sidelines, she’s ready to get out amongst it now 🙂
5 Bolderdashians, a few early into Shelly and 4 doublers.
Plus some great blog tart shots from the ramp to Shelly courtesy of Simon

Happy birthday to Iain McGregor today !
John O and Julie O are missing their swims, but they haven’t forgotten us – phew ! As we were the main feature at a family get together recently. See you guys soon.

Guy Leech is hoping to make history this Saturday morning, at 8am on Manly Beach with a new world record for the largest fitness circuit. The current record is 1165 and Guy is hoping to smash 1500. Let’s get behind Guy and be part of a world record.
It’s a 30 minute exercise workout on Manly Beach, with 10 stations each of 3 minutes exercise with 1 minutes rest in between. I spoke to one of Guys’ personal trainers, Patrick this morning and he said it would be fantastic to see the Bold & Beautiful swimmers come straight from the swim, sign up and join in in our cossies and caps. Let’s do it guys, it will be a tonne of fun ! Sign up here now so they know you’re coming.
If you received the B&B Update newsletter last night you will already be aware of a new global swimming website that Stephen and myself came up with and Magnus and Rob have helped to make reality – iSwimtoo !!

Jules, I was not happy only because of the infamous dusky flathead.
I am happy because this week I have submitted my Master’s thesis and presented it. It has been weeks of hard work during which I put my social life aside.
What has kept me going is B&B and I am grateful to you for that. I have not missed a morning with you in the last 18 days (I think) and that is how I kept my sanity.
Thanks to all of you for being such a wonderful group!

Beautiful swim to-day and I’m really enjoying the extra freedom wearing a short wetsuit. The sea is so cool and gorgeous. Anne and I had fun catching some waves on the way back in. Now I too can swim with iSwimToo – great idea and incentive to clock up the k’s in good company. Thanks!

Hey hey great surf and swim today. Jenny K you are a surf nazi! As for me, the best and biggest wave i’ve got…ever!! Spent a moment on the lip wondering (hoping/praying) that it would take me in to shore and not unceremoniously (or bone crunchingly) dump me…and lucky for me it did! It was awesome! If anyone can tell me how to spot the difference (beforehand) on whether a wave will dump or ride…I’d be extremely grateful 🙂 On another note, I want to give a big shout out to Andrew D for his gallant efforts to go to the aid of one of the 6.30’ers yesterday in th big seas getting out to the point. Love that community spirit. Well done…!

For anyone who has trouble spotting rips, have a look at the third Photo down in the blog today.
You can see the rip quite easily and there are 15-16 B&B swimmers right in it!!
Well done!! No wonder everyone got out so easily.

Come on Blog and Media Tarts you must do the Guy Leech thingy
after the B&B swim! It is only 30 minutes and we can make it into The Guiness Book of Records! He is nearly up to his 1500 but needs a few more.
We must get behind our amazing Jules and Stephen and vote for Iswimtoo too! Oh and quite a few B&Bers are signing up for the Husky Triathlon next February inc myself, Jules I, Jules M, Retha, Dr John, John Hiron, Iain, Rob etc. It will be a great weekend!

Fifi
careful of the spikes on the side of the head, they are covered in a neurotoxin that can paralize in seconds!
Francois
Kingfish only live in the northern hemisphere around Thailand, was probably the seadragon (often also mistaken as the flathead)

Sorry Lesley, I was not aware that you “had to” see so much of me. You should see me for at least another few days 😛

I will keep that in mind when next I am compelled to grip the flathead by the sides of its head….
