Over 109 Bold & Beautiful swimmers

enjoyed a much calmer sea this morning

You’ve just got to swing those hips

reach with your arms

and smile

and that’s before you start swimming !

Lesley was very happy to see Francois for the 19th day in a row 🙂

A nice rolling swell out at the point

I saw two of our lovely friendly ‘seahorse-flathead’ duskies this morning.  I even managed to get a photo of them both, despite being totally unprepared.  I had to turn the camera on, change it to underwater mode and they were still just chillin’ right underneath me.  Blog tarts obviously !

Looking forward to reading what John S has to say about their id today… ??

Oh… talking of blog tarts.  Rainer thinks he’s a real man…

now he’s ditched his wetsuit ! 🙂

and Neil R from the UK is rightly thrilled to have completed his first swim ‘all the way’, through the surf, from Manly to Shelly return this morning.  Well done Neil 🙂

Another great swim all round !

albeit with a little flotsam

and a bit of duckin’ and divin’ at the end

Maria’s excited to have found a babysitter for the morning so she could get in a bonus swim too !

Maria’s just launched a new photography business and has just done a lovely photo shoot for Michael and I.  If you need any professional photos done check her out at: mariavladimirovnaphotography.com or on Facebook here

You can tell it was a gorgeous morning as there was so much B&B activity, with lots of people swimming as much as 6km this morning, on a weekday too !  Some starting early and finishing with the Shelly swim and some starting with the Shelly swim and continuing on after.  I guess Rotto is in sight…  If you’re interested in swimming The Rottnest Channel on Sat 23rd February, entries close this Sunday evening, so register here now !

The Bolderdash report and photos from Simon:  Three groups headed North this morning. ~8 went to Freshie followed by a group of 3 who swam close to the shore to QC then a group of 8 who headed for the point at Queensie.

The water was like frosted glass (velvet smooth but almost zero visibility under the surface) it could have been the large amount of jellies ??  The current/wave effect was minimal as the north and south bound legs took almost the same time.

On tour… Check out David Day body surfing a break called Bojo off the west coast of Sumatra in his pink B&B budgies.  Click on the photo to enlarge it, you can so see the pink togs 🙂  This is some serious wave !  Go David 🙂

B&B CHRISTMAS PARTY HAS BEEN LOCKED IN… it’s Wed, 12th Dec from 6.30pm upstairs at The Steyne Hotel !

It’s Retro theme so dress up and come and boogie the night away.  Oh… anyone know a good retro DJ (or band) that would like to come and play for us as our very own Warwick is sadly unavailable.  Party food will be provided so please let us know if you can come by booking in here to help plan the catering.  Drinks can be purchased from behind the bar throughout the night.

November’s monthly happy hour
drinks and nibbles at Murray’s is on next Wednesday evening, that’s
Wednesday 14th Nov from 6.30pm, so please rsvp here

so we have an idea of how many people are coming to help plan for the catering and come and join in the fun !

November’s B&B special monthly Bluewater Dinner has to be moved from Mon 26th Nov to Wed 28th Nov as Bluewater are lucky enough to have their own Christmas Party that night.  If you’ve already booked in for the Monday and you can still come on the Wednesday you don’t need to do anything.  If you now can’t come please let me know.  If you want to come but haven’t book in yet, please do so now, here !

World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA) Awards:

You may recall last month a group of us jumped in the water at Shelly and swam the last 2km of James Pittar’s epic fundraising swim from Collaroy to North Steyne for the Fred Hollow’s Foundation.  This would be a great achievement for any swimmer, but for James it is even more outstanding as he is blind !  This achievement has been suitably recognised and as such has earned James a nomination for a global WOWSA award: World Open Swimming Performance of the Year !  If you’d like to support James and vote for him to win this prestigious award simply click here

This is the same collection of awards, but under a different category, for which our new global website, iSwimtoo has also been nominated.  To vote for us to win our category, as 2012 leading new swimming offering in the world please click  here

There was barely any debris as I hugged the shoreline on the way back – just the odd bit of plastic!!
Great to see you Francois – please keep coming! I enjoy your company!!! :-))
Those dusky’s look so diddy – but i bet they were BIG! The questions is: are they babies? Or are they adults just about to mate??
ps. shame that mother and baby whale didn’t hang out with us – WE could have got the net off!

I saw an old shoe, two plastic bags, and something resembling a sponge..
Sponges are often mistaken for dusky whalers.

agree they r mullets, you can tell by the absence of any other sealife around them due to their fierce reputation as predators of the shallows, inhaling all available air to render the environ uninhabitable by all but the lowly the morwongs.

Mullets, morwongs and magpies, would even their parents love them?
